That's the one. I had forgotten that they flew out of JFK.

john batchelor on now. interesting comment by his first guest, who knows alot of top NYC detectives: "my friend told me that if anything was happening where I think you and your family should leave the city, I will call you".

just as we talked about earlier, there are all kinds of tips out there, if something "big" were really going down with damn near certain intel, you'd see alot of people "in the know" moving.

Whereever you are looking, does it just list passenger flights? Or cargo too?

And THANKS!

IATA code is just the abbreviation for the airline

i.e.: United Airlines = UA, American Airlines = AA

Re; your previous question, I don't see cargo flights listed.

just happen to know he is dead-on correct but my lips are sealed.

Sean - thanks for the comments..BUT..WHY are your "lips sealed"?

THIS is one of the problems, IMHO. An unwillingness to "level" with the American public. Let us know what we are up against, so that we can confront it head on.

Instead, the USG plays this little game of telling us to "go about our lives..don't let the terrorists win..etc". HOWEVER - that is a likely recipe to produce a lot of DEAD PEOPLE.

I am SHOCKED AND AMAZED at the number of "ostriches" we have (my own spouse included). People do not want to be bothered and distracted from their normal lives with news of our impending destruction. I, on the other hand, think that the 99+% who are NOT PAYING ATTENTION need to start - and start NOW. Take precautions to prepare. To save themselves and their families from the LIKELY hit of a WMD here on US soil.

Tell your friends in the USG that they need to start ***LEVELING WITH US*** and quit putting the facts through the PC filter. Tell us what we are up against, and what we face. Let the American people take responsibility for getting ourselves through this - since we sure as hell know the government is not going to come to each of our own home towns and do it for us.

what can they say? the threat is not LIKELY, its POSSIBLE. they sent NEST teams to 5 cities over new years, they came up with nothing, should they have caused panic in those 5 cities by pre-announcing it?

I know. I didn't read all of them. It's a shame. They should have a high standard of speech and behavior for translators and immediately dismiss anyone who doesn't meet it. They should take both Arab and Jew, best to have them both, and they should ask for translations from two separate people for every bit of intel. They should keep their translators at home and separate so that they don't even know who the others are.

My friends think I'm off my rocker for worrying about terrorism.

AMEN to that! I can't tell you how much people (friends, family..particularly wife) think I am CRACKED IN THE HEAD worried about all of this. Me..I think they're all going to be D-E-A-D due to lack of preparation and taking the threats seriously.

Just had another argument with the spouse about this. She's taking the "so..if I die..I die" attitude. It's infuriating me beyond words. Seems she thinks the odds of a WMD attack are about..ooooh, the same as being struck by lightning. She just DOESN'T. GET. IT.

I told her that the Wash Post had the article today about Radiological bombs, and that the article in the NJ paper had admission about suitcase nukes. I've also told her about the Italian paper article ("AQ: We will destroy NYC in <=35 days."). Not sure, but I think she sees me like Mel Gibson in Conspiracy Theory (movie). Sure doesn't seem to give a .. if something happens or not. Infuriates me as I need help, not arguments about IF we are going to get him (I think the odds are at least 1 in 3 that we will, possibly higher).

In the meantime, I continue my preparations - single handedly and without much help. Have stocked water, food and meds (including Potassium Iodate). Want to buy a RadMeter next. And some concrete blocks to build a temp shelter in the basement. (As you can see, I DO think we're going to see at least a "dirty bomb" and quite possibly suitcase nukes or more, as I DO think that AQ has the "big toys" and are waiting for the right political/economic/etc time to use them).

If anyone has any ideas how to convince a spouse who'd prefer to put their head in the sand and chant "la la la la la la la" (like you do when you don't want to hear something), plz let me know.. TIA!

...freeze dried packing... ...another good idea. Thanks!

Just bought a Tilia (sp?) vacuum sealer and a dehydrator. Can dehydrate food (apples, etc) and they keep for a year. Vacuum sealing extends this 3-5x. Do a 'net search if interested. Vacuum thing $100-300. Dehydrator about $150.
