[history]
Monday, November 3, 2003
A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

It's not the Staples Center itself but the neighborhood between the water and the Center that is the real target.

Actually you'd be surprised at the hatred many of the Islamic fundamentalists have for the early Egyptian culture. They see the ruins as relics of a polytheistic society, and something to be despised. Statues abound in the ancient Egyptian ruins. But statues are viewed as idols, and are prohibited in the fundamentalist interpretations of Islam. Remember what the Taliban did to the ruins of the ancient Buddha at Bamiyen in Afghanistan?
This is why if you go into a mosque, you won't see any statues, or paintings of religuous scenes like you'll see in our churches (from the great cathedrals down to the little church on the corner). Instead you'll see stylized caligraphy. Most of the censors in the Islamic counties won't even allow films with actors/actresses playing any of the major figures of Islam's past, especially Mohamed.
Goodness I got off the subject here! Oh well, maybe it will come in handy for a trivia question LOL!

International Travel Information - Mexico
Proof of Citizenship / Identity
Before a citizen of any country will be allowed to board an international flight, they must present proof of citizenship and identity.
Should documentation not be adequate or sufficient, passengers will not be boarded. It is imperative that proper documentation be presented at time of check-in. It is also important to know that documentation may be checked on multiple occasions. Passengers are advised to keep proper documentation on their person during travel times.
Items accepted as proof of citizenship/identity for U.S. citizens :
A valid U.S. passport (not expired) - serves as both proof of citizenship and ID or,
A valid US driver's license (not expired). For ID only.
Original or certified Birth Certificate or a notarized photocopy of birth certificate along with a valid, government issued ID. (NO hospital birth certificates/records UNLESS it is a newborn less than 3 months old.) For citizenship only.
Military ID's are only good as government issued identification. They are NOT proof of citizenship.
Original certificate of Naturalization. No photocopies.
Mexico will not accept them and the traveler may incur a fine upon returning to the U.S.
Items not accepted as proof of citizenship/identity
No expired passports or drivers licenses will be accepted.
Voter's registration cards are not accepted as proof of identity or citizenship.
No photocopies of passports.
No expired driver's license.
No gaming, membership shopping cards or credit cards with photos on them are accepted. The only exception is if the traveler has gone to the motor vehicle department to renew their driver's license and were given a receipt with license to be mailed.

http://www.travel.state.gov/passport_services.html Minors are considered any child under the age of 18.
The policy for minors traveling out of the U.S. is very different than domestic travel policy and different forms of documentation are required.
The rules for minors traveling internationally are very strict. Therefore, you must call reservations before booking online.
Minors traveling with only one parent :
Parents will need to adhere to these parameters to be able to escort a minor (any child under 18) out of the country:
Notarized documentation from the non-present parent allowing the other parent to take the child out of the country.
(This could be why Gal?)
If parents are divorced, must present court papers giving full or sole custody to parent traveling.
If parent is deceased, must present death certificate (original or certified copy).
If parents have joint custody and parent is showing a "restraining order" against the other parent, the traveling parent still must have notarized letter of consent. Restraining orders are not permissible as allowance to travel.
If a minor is traveling with another family member or friends, both parents must sign a notarized permission letter or they must produce information as if the minor is traveling with one parent. It is important to include departure and arrival dates in permission letter.
If the birth certificate does not list a father, there is no need for a permission letter.
Should parents or guardians be unable to present letters of permission, or any other documentation, they will not be allowed to take the child out of the country. No exceptions will be made.
Unaccompanied Minors :
Spirit Airlines will not accept, for any reason, an unaccompanied minor traveling internationally. No exceptions.
Items accepted as proof of citizenship/identity for Mexican citizens/nationals

Resident Aliens must have passport in addition to Resident Alien card.
Electoral, Mexican voter's ID.
Cartilla, Mexican military Card.
Declaracion de Nacionalidad - letter from the Mexican Consulate with the Mexican seal and traveler's picture.
If the traveler is a resident alien from Mexico, the traveler must also have either a matricula or something from Mexico to prove their citizenship.
If the traveler shows up with nothing to prove citizenship, they MUST go to the Mexican consulate. Spirit will not send travelers without any documentation

One thing that the bull/Bush thing brings to mind is animal sacrifice, because I believe that is part of some Muslim religious occasions.
Follow-up questions would be:
- Are there any such occasions occuring in the near future, which would provide context for this image?
- Are bulls ever used in these sacrificial ceremonies? I would assume that goats and lambs would be more common.
A quick search found reference to a Muslim "holiday" Eid-ul-Adha, which apparently involves animal sacrifice. I will continue too look some more to see what else I can find.

A Message from President Bush:
"America is not a fortress; no, we never want to be a fortress. We're a free country; we're an open society. And we must always protect the rights of our law -- of law-abiding citizens from around the world who come here to conduct business or to study or to spend time with their family."
