Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles - Daily Terror Threat

Monday, November 3, 2003

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Thought so . . . with Sears tower etc. A friend of mine works there. His daughter used to work there with him. He's 80 something. Glad his daughter doesn't work there any more.

Prayers for your safety!

You humble me.

Thanks.

I do think the prayer alert is worth it.

I expect most all of us will be around some weeks hence.

But I also think this week is a pretty hazardous week.

Poohbah, I don't recall reading your comments on what you think a suitable set of responses would be to 2-3 nukes going off in 2-3 big cities . . . say container sized nukes . . .

A related question . . . WHAT REALLY . . .

is the MOST PROBABLE response to say a nuke in NYC and/or some devastation in DC?

SYRIA: What would we realistically probably do with SYRIA?

IRAN: What would we realistically, probably do with IRAN?

BIN-LADEN et al in Iran and Pakistan--what would we do?

SAUDI ARABIA: Ditto?

America's response to a mystery nuke:

"Nuke 'em all, Allah will know his own."

But there will be some seriously clenched anal sphincters in China and Russia--both countries will be praying that we don't ID the special nuclear material as coming from them.

THANKS TONS.

I believe, that the believing FREEPERS ALONE could impact 10's of thousands of lives in life saving ways through such spiritual warfare.

The Scriptures say one puts a thousand to flight, 2 put 10,000 to flight--I LOVE THOSE ODDS! THE POWER OF THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB IS INCREDIBLE--AND, NOT BY MIGHT, NOW BY POWER, BUT BY MY SPIRIT, SAYS THE LORD OF HOSTS!

Perhaps we should . . . Pass it on!

But my understanding is that we CAN detect origins of virtually any element due to various idiosyncrasies geographically. Is that true?

And, I was hoping for more of a your typically thought-out treatments of the question.

Were you in Condi's position to Bush or the Joint Chief's . . . what would you recommend? Seriously.

Woodfield Mall or Michigan Avenue in Chicago). If they are looking for maximum collateral damage, those areas would be serious targets in each of those metro areas

I will address what I know and go for Woodfield and Michigan AV.I avoid malls like plague since my daughter was nearly kidnapped at Woodfield.

Woodfield use to be sparsely guarded with ineffectual rent-a-cops. It is enormous with many places to plant a device. It has a wide open center that would collapse the entire mall and it is huge. This made me think of The Galleria in LA and the mall in Minnesota and don't you have the biggest one in Atlanta? Also Woodfield as hundreds of businesses surrounding it for miles. Not far from O'Hare and right by highways. Many places to hide with a remote detonator.

We all know how I feel about the security surrounding O'Hare and the SAM's that could be used.

Michigan Av. - rich folks, elite and hi-brow. The magnificent mile is wide open though not a tight corridor. But stores run exactly next to one another. Many historical landmarks and alot of glass.

Our tight corridor like Manhattan is wide, in between State Street and the River to the west. Which Sears Tower is smack in the middle of and the Chicago Board Exchange. Union Station is not far to the west. In regards to Sears, a personal story. My Mom was working across the street as it was being built and worker's were dying. She loathed with a passion , tall buildings, dreaded skyscrapers (your point about this is well taken). One day ,she always had the radio on getting ready for work. She heard there was an explosion from a gas leak and her building was destroyed. The close proximity to all commerce is that area.

This is not far from Daley Plaza and the fire that took place across the street and the Illinois State building, which is all glass and built like our prison., west of this is where our tight corrider begins.

Many professionals now live downtown, where as in the 60's-70's it was unheard of. Many live in Sears Tower. Sears was supposedly a target on 911 and due to it now has cement blocks, as do all federal buildings downtown.

I hope this helps anyone living here but unaware of details.

Do you remember the article recently about the UN security guard that...'shot himself' while on duty at the UN? I don't remember the police doing a public release on an autopsy, cause of death. Did anyone follow that story?

Internet Jihad By Robert Spencer FrontPageMagazine.com | December 16, 2003

A Saudi radical Muslim group, the Brigade of the Two Holy Mosques, sent a threat last Wednesday to the House of Saud and its subjects: “We are warning anyone who cooperates with the authorities or gives the tyrants information leading to the arrest of one of the mujahidin. He will be liquidated.” The next day, a man identifying himself as “Daleel Al-Mojahid” (Guide for the jihad warrior) and claiming affiliation with the Taliban and Al-Qaeda issued his own warning to those participating in last weekend’s Loya Jirga council in Afghanistan: “We . . . assure you and send you our coming news that we will start killing all the (loya Jerga) council that is due to start elections, we have sent them all messages warning them that if any of them show up in the elections they will be killed directly on our hands.”

Both of these threats were delivered through the Internet. Paradoxical as it may be for a movement generally regarded as anti-modern, in the World Wide Web radical Muslims have found their most congenial method of communication. It satisfies their need for secrecy and concealment more effectively than any other medium, and allows them to transmit messages around the globe instantaneously. Al-Qaeda itself, as well as other terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hizballah, operates websites that not just to issue threats and other public statements, but to, in the words of the Net watchdog site Internet Haganah, “distribute official messages and communiqués; recruit and indocrinate new members’ communicate with forces that are distributed globally; and train in methodology and educate in ideology.

It's possible, but not 100% certain. It's not the geographic origin, but instead how the plutonium is "cooked" in the nuclear reactor (plutonium is not mined; it is made by bombarding Uranium 238 in a reactor). If we have a sample of the material in question (such as, for example, an assay from a bomb pit that we helped Ivan scrap under the Nunn-Lugar program, or just simple espionage), we'll figure out where it was made.

Mall of America in Minneapolis is the biggest, but Lenox Square here is in the top five for certain (I'm not sure if it's number two or not).

When we go home, we usually go down to the Magnificent Mile and shop or walk around or a bit of both. With the Chicago River on one end and the Hancock building on the other, anyone who knows Chicago will find it a respectable target behind the Sears Tower and O'Hare Airport.

Here, Lenox (which I avoid like the plague most weekends, but especially this time of year), and most of that part of Buckhead is clogged with traffic, which makes it a definite target here. Atlanta is spread out not unlike the LA basin; the other concentration of people that would attract the bad guys here is the airport, the world's busiest (at least for this month it is, anyway).

The Peach Bowl will be played at the Georgia Dome next Friday (1/2), so there's another target here.

There are other cities whose holiday celebrations and crowd concentrations are probably more attractive to the bad guys than what we have here.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.

I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Death casts a frightening shadow over us because we are entirely helpless in its presence. We can struggle with other enemies -- pain, suffering, disease, injury -- but strength and courage cannot overcome death. It has the final word. Only one person can walk with us through death's dark valley and bring us safely to the other side -- the God of life, our shepherd. Because life is uncertain, we should follow this shepherd who offers us eternal comfort.

I'd long assumed the Ruskies had a nuke in their DC embassy big enough to glassify the whole DC area, if not more.

I wouldn't put it past them to have it there still.

It fits their culture, their mentality, their values.

. . . their paranoia.
