Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles - Daily Terror Threat

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Hum, sounds like one plot was to release 'burning chemicals' into the middle of a well heeled, 'dolled up' party. Terrace. Talks about a terrace. Interesting. I'm reading this over several times.

I hope you're right. I think that they are having some organization problems. They could be signs of imminent collapse or they could be growing pains. I don't have enough info to know.

Al Qaeda Inc. has changed. Three years ago Al Qaeda was a huge centralized organization with a corporate headquarters in Afghanistan and it's CEO, CFO, and most of its Board of Directors there.

After 9/11, the US demolished the corporate headquarters in Afghanistan, removed (either by death or capture) as many of the corporate offices as it could locate, and then proceeded to close down branch offices all over the world. The problem is - new branches spring up as fast as one closes.

What's happened now is that Al Qaeda is now a very decentralized organization. I want to use the term "franchise" but that's not quite right either because to affiliate with Al Qaeda you pretty much just ahve to declare yourself a Moslem sworn to jihad, and then start out on your own.

There appear to be several different types of "projects", if you will. Those which were loosely defined and approved from the top, many of which may have been set into motion some time ago (months ago to probably pre-911), and those projects that are just being dreamed up on the fly by freelancers who I like to call Jihadi wannabes. Copycats, if you wish. These latter screw up a lot and get caught a lot. But when they get caught they don't take anyone else in the organizational structure with them. These aren't even cells - they are stand alone groups who just borrow the name. They aren't very likely to have the smarts to pull off a mass casualty event. They don't have the funding, for starters.

Eventually the war on terror will get a handle on the former - the ones that came down from the top. But mroe than likely another group will spring up in its place.

It's the little home grown ones that aren't going to go away.

The problem is the institutionalization of hatred. It isn't going to go away. It doesn't evaporate. Capturing Bin Laden isn't going to make everyone love America.

I know I keep harping on this but in my opinion any war on terror that does not address this is not going to succeed long term.

I may be wrong - and I would welcome other opinions on the subject.

Yep. It usually means paint or varnish; can also mean "coating". I've seen it used in the context of solvent as well. Remember Arabic has no "v" so the "v" before an "f".

Saudis Find Al Qaeda Training Camps

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Saudi authorities have discovered a number of camps outside Saudi cities used for training militants to carry out terror operations, an Interior Ministry official said Thursday.
Two key militant figures killed in terror sweeps last year — Turki Nasser al-Dandani and Yosif Salih Fahd Ala'yeeri — commanded the camps, the official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. More camp leaders are being sought, the official said.

Al-Dandani and Ala'yeeri were on a list of 19 Al Qaeda operatives sought after the May 6 discovery of a Riyadh (search) weapons cache. The group was said to be taking orders directly from Al Qaeda chief Usama bin Laden and linked to the May 12 bombings in Riyadh that killed 26 victims.

"I still want to know how the Sudanese passenger got through Dulles security."

Me too. When you can't get through security without the foil on the wrappers of a pack of gum setting off whistles and bells, how do you get through with ANY amount of ammo of ANY kind?

The QM2 photo is directly off of Yahoo. The SOL pic I saved from Yahoo, at the time of the incident.

If you go to the link (don't miss posts 127 and 128) I posted under the SOL photo, post 121 has a whole bunch of thumbnails with captions. Now of course, they are just red x's. It was one of those. Here's another:

From SOL waving the red flag to 911, was 19 days. The QM2 red flag pic was taken on the 12th, but posted to Yahoo yesterday on the 14th.

Ever since the SOL warning prior to 911, I've been keeping my eye out for similar red flags. As 2sheep posted on that thread (dated 8/23/01) at post 128, "It is best not to ignore the warning signals!"
