If marijuana were legal, it would replace oranges as the second most valuable crop in Tulare County.

And if marijuana were legal, Tulare County also would lead the state in the plant's cultivation.

Figures released Wednesday from the state Attorney General's Office revealed more than a quarter of all marijuana plants seized in California this year have been found in Tulare County.

The same can be said of alcohol and tobacco

So because alcohol and tobacco harm people and destroy lives, we should legalize MORE drugs that harm people and destroy lives?

You haven't thought that out very well.

Alcohol and tobacco were indigenous in the culture before we had an FDA. Neither of those drugs would even be considered for approval if they were submitted for review today.

Inconsistent laws breed disrespect for all laws, so yes. Furthermore, we have tried prohibition twice, and both were spectacular failures. The first, the alcohol prohibition, was thankfully repealed. The second is the present drug prohibition, which is a spectacular failure by any metric. Money wasted, lives lost, rights eroded or destroyed, drug use, drug prices, drug availability ... they can't even keep drugs out of prisons.

You haven't thought that out very well.

If you support inconsistent laws, you are the one not thinking.

Alcohol and tobacco were indigenous in the culture before we had an FDA. Neither of those drugs would even be considered for approval if they were submitted for review today.

Marijuana was also indigenous and even widely used by this nation's founders before the FDA. Your point being ... ?

My point is that society can only tolerate so much destruction of responsible behavior in its members before it implodes.

We are on the breaking point.

Advocating responsible and moral behavior is my position. I don't believe you fully understand the effects of what you want.

Let me tell you a little story
about an old marine's last tangle
with the Catholic Church.
A newly discovered late onset diabetic
my dad had gained considerable
weight and circumference. The
rules had changed and now there
were eucharistic ministers which
were provided the front rows of
the church, the only rows my dad
could fit in. After explaining the
predicament to the pastor he asked
if there was some way we could use
the reserved rows since these new
ministers were not using them anyway.
That pastor stood there and judged my
pop in front of his children and said,
"If you don't like it, find another church"
Enough said.

Maybe if his son wasn't destined to become such an apostate and heretic the priest would have been a bit kinder, eh?

I guess by that logic since there is rape in prison we should legalize that, too. Here's an idea: Why not try to use Constitutional arguments instead of moral-liberal social-Darwinist ones? Do you, too, favor Pax's drivel that those who do not plant marijuana should be prosecuted for criminal drug evasion? Are you in favor of a Constitutional Amendment prohibiting the prohibition of recreational drugs?

"Alcohol and tobacco were indigenous in the culture before we had an FDA. "

The FDA is not GOD!

Gifted by God, this herb has been cultivated around the world since the very beginning of cultivation as the record shows. Hemp butter was a mainstay of Europe for centuries. It has been found in burial mounds of the first horsemen. It has been found in the hulls of rowing ships at the bottom of the mediterranean. It was grown by many of our Nation's Founding Fathers. The indigenous people of this land have a legend of the Hemp-barrer. But, indigenousness is not a requirement in a Free Republic for freedom of religion.

It was actually a sobering contrast to a prior epiphany.
And, it took me on a journey through knowledge which I
would unlikely have ventured otherwise. This war on herb
is an affront to more than one religion. The pastor, the church,
the Pope, and the nation are not infallible.

Specious argument!
One's rights end where another's begins.
The right to LIFE is paramount.

Well, suppose they consent to the human sacrifice, so who are we to be judgmental of another's religious beliefs, no matter how cruel they may be, eh?

Sorry your dad allowed himself to gain that much weight.

It is true they don't allow anyone to sit in the Eucharistic ministers place. Plus if he was THAT big he would be hard to get around in addition.

Why didn't your dad do what normally is done, either ask for a fold up chair for outside a pew or
Sit in the back and have communion brought out to him?
Lastly, he could have sat where the kids room is and all those are individual chairs as well.

He just asked to sit in the wrong place is all.
I came up with three alternatives in 20 seconds, how come your dad couldn't do that as well.

Seems strange to me.
Sorry about his health.

As the child of a diabetic, I would suggest you abstain from all illegal drugs though. Genetics might not be in your favor for the long hall.

Am sorry about your dad's suffering with diabetes though. That is a tough break.

I have no doubt I am a sinner and you are a sinner
as we have all sinned, so I cast no stones.
Only point out fact in line with the admonition:
Matthew 23:9
And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

So if you want to take such a literalist view of Public Revelation, although the Church alone is authorized to interpret it, what did you call your biological father: "Junior"?

That shows the extent you are willing to go to justify your vice.
Give it up, the Pope, Catholic Church, most common sense people are all against the drugs of all kinds we call illegal.

They don't want people getting into them.

Pot in most cases is only a ticket, so you have no issue.

What do you think the Pope knows about herb?
He is a figurehead. A sweet beautiful one,
but not infallible.
