If we, theoretically, dropped a bomb on those people celebrating our soldiers' deaths, would it hurt our campaign to win the hearts and minds of our enemies?

Syria and Iran are feeding this because they know they are next. We need a few bombs in syria.

Will they be showing vidoes these grand celebrations and festivities at Mr. Bush's grand Ramadam dineer, now? Will they, eh? I'm sure the state dining room would be filled with grand applause and cheers, joining the grand celebration!

I cannot believe all those peace loving people are doing this. Any Iraqi carrying a RPG or shoulder fired missle with the thought of harming any of our soldiers or aircraft should be shot on the spot.

Resistance to the occupation is applauded by some who see it as proof that Iraqis weren't totally humiliated by the relative ease of the U-S-led coalition's toppling of Saddam Hussein.

Resistance? Anyone who says that is directly supporting Saddam and his thugs who were in the torture video the other day.

There are celebrations reported across the Arab world, after the news of more American casualties in Iraq.

Probably in Paris and Berlin, as well.

Personally, I don't think this "Nation Building" exercise in Iraq is going to work.  Some people just can't be civilized.
That being said, it's important that we try our best there.  Then we can point to it as an example that nothing else will work when we turn most of the arab world into a bubbling mass of molten glass.

Screw with the U.S. and your great grandchildren will speak of the day that the skies grew black with U.S. bombers like the mother of all swarms of locust.  How the earth shook and the very air grew hotter than One Thousand Suns.  Of how the buildings were bombed into rocks, the rocks into rubble, the rubble into sand, and the sand into dust.  Of how the Americans swept across the desert firing endless rounds of ammunition at any soul unfortunate enough to have survived the bombing, and how just as quickly as they appeared, they then left.

Occupation?

Don't you mean liberation?

Iraqis?

Don't you mean "Husseinites"?

God Bless America, the lost troops and their families.

My thoughts and prayers are with them.

These Arab bastards must love to be tortured, beaten, raped and murdered. What is the matter with these people? I say, give them back Hussein!

There is a concerted effort by the GOP to court the growing moslem vote for 2004.

There is concerted effort by the gov't to portray Islam as a religion of peace.

There is a long sustained campaign on the part of moslems to paint the Mid-East problems as an outgrowth of zionist imperialism.

Yet, in reality, all three of the following efforts are attempts to spin false ideas into reality. It's an illusion that should have been shattered by
9-11 attacks.

Will we wake up? I hope we do.

There are celebrations reported across the Arab world, after the news of more American casualties in Iraq.

This is a very thinly-sourced "news" article. No identification is made of who, exactly, is doing the celebrating, how that came to the attention of the reporter, how widespread the sentiment is alleged to be, or other concrete details. Was this based on some reporter's own observations? Was this something seen on TV? Was there an editorial in a fundamentalist or a government-operated newspaper?

W... What are you waiting for? You didn't want to get drawn in to a house-to-house, street-to-street fight? Well, ya did. Now you're gonna have to find them and kill them.

Just be sure to take a gun to this knife fight.

Who said the Arabs were totally humiliated by the relative ease of the U-S-led coalition's toppling of Saddam Hussein?

In fact, they were only 99.999999996% humilated.

"In Damascus today, foreign ministers from countries bordering Iraq again called on the U-S to restore order in that country"

This is just precious! The idiots who are allowing their own countrymen to travel into Iraq and stir up the mess .. these are the same people who are calling for the USA to restore order ..?? The Arabs are sounding more and more like democrats every day.

I felt very strongly, that right after Bush gave the "end of major combat" speech to Americans, he should have given another speech, this time addressing the Iraqi people directly and exclusively, and told them point blank - now is the time, if you want to be free, to help us rid the country of Baathists and terrorists once and for all.

Arabs respect strong leadership. They don't respect flunkies delivering the message.

If Bush doesn't un-muddle the message and the mission, we could lose this thing, and invite the next.
