Perennially overrated Miami Hurricanes exposed as frauds tonight(as expected)

Got their butts kicked by Virginia Tech(themselves recently exposed as overrated) 31-7. That should shut up for a few days the orange blowhard bandwagoning fullofthemselves thugimage rapcrap pullyourpantsup snoopyappiyap loudmouth elements of the Cane fans.
OBTW, nice sore loser cheap shots by the Miami bench late in the game after the interception. Spare me the baloney about how this is the "new" "cleaned up" Miami. They sure looked like the heavily penalized, trash talking, thuggish, gang bums of old, mixing it up after practically every play in the final 4 minutes.
Think I'm piling on? Watch media favorite Miami hardly drop in the polls, despite the complete thrashing. Sorry, but I'm tired of the total scam that is the BCS/poll system propping Miami, FSU, Texas(my team), etc. every year with early high rankings and overhype, so that a loss for them is not nearly as hurtful to their title shots as most teams. Its an incestuous false cycle, and thus the same few teams regularly bob around the top 10 and usually are the only ones with a real shot of playing in that totally bogus mythical national championship game.
C'mon, this year only Oklahoma stands out above the crowd, and by no means is it certain that they will go undefeated. There is absolutely no way that we can pick the 2 best teams in the country with any degree of certainty. No matter what the BCS does, it is a sham and a total joke.

And don't forget Tenn-Ark a few years ago. Or was it last year? Arkansas holds the record for a win in ot (twice at 7) and the record for losing in ot (Tenn at 6).

Are there many bigger jerks in college football than Kellen Winslow, Jr?The short answer, I am certain, is no. The interesting comparison is between him and Jeremy Shockey - who is, of course, himself a former member of the godless, outlaw Miami squad. I have a hard time deciding which one of them I would sooner jab through the eyelid with a fork.
I think Shockey wins by a whisker, but that may only be because Shockey has played longer and I have had more time to get to know him and, thus, hate his guts. I usually don't wish injury on anybody, but I have a feeling that one of the good gentlemen of the NFL will soon be "taking him out" of the league. Maybe he'll bust one of Shockey's kneecaps. Or two. Or his neck.

And don't forget Tenn-Ark a few years ago. Or was it last year?I believe it was last year. I was going to mention it, but I couldn't remember if Tennessee won that game against Ole Miss or Arkansas.
Incredible. Four heartstopping overtime games by the Razorbacks.
College overtimes are great. Remember Ohio State-Miami last year? Professional football pales in comparison with this.

What is with Arkansas and these incredible overtime games???
This is the weirdest and most frustrating Arkansas team I have seen. In the Texas game they play like they are Oklahoma. Then they play games where they fall behind and just goof around laughing on the sideline until the last two minutes and then decide they might need to play football and play like Oklahoma again. If they played like they were making a comeback every down then they would be in Oklahoma's position right now. They only play that way for maybe 8 minutes a game and the rest of the time seem to lounge around.
They also kill themselves with stupid, stupid penalties. I was embarassed tonight about Batman Carroll acting like a jerk.
Bua has caught hell for being out of control, but at least he hasn't been lounging for three quarters a game.
They have all these overtime games because they don't play up to their potential until the last 5 minutes of the game and do just what they have to do to keep alive it seems.

I was surprised UT beat Nebraska - I really figured Nebraska would beat them, but it looks like Nebraska is as overrated as UT was.Sadly, I think you're right. :(
Speaking strictly as a Nebraska fan, I didn't really expect them to defeat Texas. They have never demonstrated any consistent ability to beat that team. And NU's offense is atrocious - they got less than one yard a carry today. Ugh.
I think Nebraska is probably a year away. That's what I said at the beginning of the year, too.

I think Nebraska is probably a year away. That's what I said at the beginning of the year, too.Amazing, perhaps our coaches/ADs were seperated at birth - UT fans have been hearing "we'll be ready next year" and "next year is the year" for about four years now ;-)

This is the weirdest and most frustrating Arkansas team I have seen.I know this feeling - some of my Nebraska teams have been like that too in the past. The *spit* Florida Gators *spit* are like that this year, too - they go and lose to mediocre opponents at home before beating two Top 10 teams in two consecutive weeks. Huh?
The bottom line is that college kids are going to play in remarkably inconsistent ways. And talent isn't everything - if it were, the Texas Longhorns would have won a bunch of national championships over the past 10 years.
Nice job knocking off those bastards, by the way. :)

"We're watching history..." There was also an LSU fan watching: me. Ain't no quit in the Razor Backs.
I was watching while talking to a buddy in AR on the phone, it occurred to me that while lots of teams have scored 71+ points in victories...I wonder...did Kentucky set the record for the most points ever scored in a losing major college football effort?
I can't recall ever having heard of a team scoring 63 points and losing.

Yeah, I could be totally delusional. Lots of fans are always convinced their team is "a year away." Frank Solich reminds me of ole John Cooper at OSU - had teams with talent, couldn't win big games. Mack Brown at Texas is like that, too.
Solich has won precisely one road game against a ranked opponent in his entire tenure. That was against Notre Dame in 2000. Notre Dame was ranked #25 at the time.
Bring back Osborne! :)

Speaking of UT, I was sitting in the Texas fan section for the entire first half of the NU-UT game last year (the guy who scalped me the tickets told me I was with the Nebraska fans).
It seemed like everyone there was complaining about Mack Brown. They seemed angrier with him than Nebraska fans are with Solich - which is really saying something, believe me.
I've basically been conducting a mental "Mack Brown death watch" exercise since then. I wonder if that big loss to the Okies this year may have been his undoing. Beating Nebraska today helped him out, of course, but I could still see Texas dumping him at the end of the year.
This is just my opinion, but I don't think he's capable of winning the games the fans really want to win. There's no way Texas should have been blown out this year by Oklahoma with the talent they have.
To: RabidBartender
If Miami remains in the top five after this poleaxing (Thank You, Tony Bruno) then the polls truly are meaningless.
To: Terry Mross
"Arkansas holds the record for a win in ot (twice at 7) and the record for losing in ot (Tenn at 6)." Sorry but the two teams that Arkansas beat in 7OTs hold the record for losing in OT, that would be Ole Miss and Kentucky.

sinkhole of a city in the middle of nowhere?Well said. I just call it Tallacrappy or Trailerhatchee. Low rent is also a good name for it.

Oh what a happy day!!! I don't know what was better, UF beating Georgia (again!) or Miami (and that traitor Brock Berlin) getting humiliated by VT??

I think only one team has a shot (and a small one at that) of beating Oklahoma, and that is USC.

I agree 100% with the assessment of Miami and their fans.

Thanks, Robt. I followed the game on the net while watching the Cougars at USC. (We don't get ESPN up here unless one of the Canaduh sports channels forwards it). Just before the World Series I got the following earful from you-know-who in Ottawa: (roughly) "The Marlins will win the World Series, the Canes will win the Nat. Champ., the Dolphins the Super Bowl, the Panthers the Heat etc.etc. It'll be the first time ever one city won all the championships." Jeez-zus. And I got the usual earful all week before this game. I've been putting up with this crap since 1969. I hope his hemorrhoids are killing him.
Meanwhile, sorry about your game, Dan.
