The protectors of the Reagan legacy are in full cry.
Critics who believe former President Ronald Reagan is portrayed unfairly in CBS' "The Reagans," a miniseries scheduled for broadcast Nov. 16 and 18, have challenged the network and its advertisers to either revise or abandon the project, which they consider a partisan hatchet job and a distortion of history.

"A few years ago I saw a fine biography of Reagan on PBS."
Must have been one of those severe solar flare events.

That is manure. The purchaser CAN say I do not want to be near that show or at this hour. Target is snowing us.
Simple NO PRISONERS, if their commercial goes on CBS, they are out. Not smart for target as they try to take on walmart with their Supertarget concept megastores. (target with supermarket) shareholders should be really angry.
here is the investor relations email. $$$$ talks, Barbara Steisand walks.

I just hope all of this pre-broadcast criticism doesn't cause CBS to avoid a public relations disaster. It's the subtle shading and half-truths that get by unnoticed-I like it when they go whole hog with a whopper that even offends my cocker spaniel.
In December of 1994, ABC News (P. Jennings) did one of those year-in-review snippets where they reviewed the obits of famous people who died that year. When it was over, my NINE YEAR OLD son said, "Dad, they missed Richard Nixon". I haven't watched ABC News since.

What the GOP needs is to retaliate with a miniseries of BJ Clinton.

You know this really does have shades of "get one for the guipper".
CBS is v-chipped for november. Anyone advertising on CBS is wasting their dollars.
Remember folks, Neilson does not only collect ratings based on meter boxes (1/3 in NY). They also collect agrrigate data from Tivo and digital cable and part of their ratings soup.
Every Blocked TV is a dollar that does not go to CBS.

And don't be mollified by statements that they are removing the controversial parts. They will make a big deal about sniping out RR allegedly saying what he did about AIDS or Nancy slapping Patty.
But any of you who heard the dozen or so clips that Drudge ran on Rush last week know there is no way to fix this thing because it isn't only the lies, it's that they portray RR as a bumbling wimp and Nancy as a cold hearted b!tch in every scene. The only way to fix this mess is to burn it.

Good post and I agree with most of it.
You're right, the ratings will be good but CBS will suffer for this in the long run.

There is no way for them to ADD what they did not shoot.
The lines are drawn.
CBS made its choice to go with a Striesand version of reagan MONTHS ago.
We are now in November sweeps. Every second of watching CBS is a dollar in the pocket of the left.
STOP WATCHING ALL CBS NOW!!!

Interesting idea... since TV's are capable of add/delete channel, maybe we should just campaign to delete CBS from our TVs.

YES!!!!!!!
DELETE CBS FROM YOUR TV's.
Sorry I have been saying that from day one. No reason for CBS (or hallmark) to be on your channel lineup.
To: kattracks
Ah, let 'em air the crap. There's no way its gonna be good so we have more to gain from the backlash of it being bad. Boycott the sponsors after it airs. After all, the sheeple don't really get their history lessons from tv movies...um...do they?

NO, because CBS will convice advertisers that all PR is good PR.
STOP WATCHING CBS NOW!
Email all CBS advitisers.
Block CBS off all TV tuners. Every tv can be programed to not have the local CBS in memory. V-Chip for added protection.
Hit CBS in the November ratings because this will lower their ability to charge for commercials. Low ratings=$$ problems to CBS.
so
STOP WATCHING CBS NOW!

" Longtime Reagan family friend and TV host Merv Griffin was perhaps the most vehement.
He called the series a "cowardly act ... the most cowardly thing I've ever heard," he told MSNBC on Wednesday.
"Is that what the 'C' in CBS stands for?" Mr. Griffin asked.
"________________________________________
Right on, CBS does indeed stand for Cowardly Bull S#i+!
Fools must surely be running that nitwork.

The RNC has set up a Web site for viewers and is suggesting that the public have their own "Reagan viewing" parties on the nights the series airs,
featuring "counterprogramming" that is rooted in truth.Maybe you didn't read the whole sentence. My copy of The Essential Ronald Reagan videotape will be running while CBS lies to the world.

What a great idea! However, it would be X-rated, at best, and would never make it to network tv!

I ended my letter to CBS with:
That is what is so grand about America, the products your advertisers sell, well, there are comparable products on the market.
