A truck driver amused himself by running over lawyers as they walked down the side of the road. Every time he saw a lawyer walking along the road, he would swerve to hit him. There would be a loud "thud," and then he would swerve back on the road.

As the truck driver drove along one day, he saw a priest hitchhiking; he pulled over and asked the priest, "Where are you going, Father?"

The priest said he was on his way to his church up the road.

"I'll give you a lift."

The priest climbed into the passenger seat and the truck driver continued down the road. Suddenly, the truck driver saw a lawyer walking down the road and instinctively swerved to hit him. At the last minute, he remembered he had a priest in the truck and swerved back onto the road. Even though he knew he missed the lawyer, he still heard a loud "thud."

Unsure of where the noise came from, he glanced in his mirrors. When he didn't see anything, so he turned to the priest and said, "I'm sorry, Father. I almost hit a lawyer."

The priest replied, "That's okay, I got him with the door."

"Look in the background at the woman on the phone...8 shots fired and she doesn't drop the phone to run or duck... "

Was that not incredible ? She is watching all that take place a few feet from her and just keeps talking on the phone.

Attorney Gunned Down Outside L.A. Courthouse

An attorney was gunned down Friday on a public walkway outside the Van Nuys courthouse in California as television crews gathered to cover a hearing for Robert Blake.

The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Jerry Curry. He was shot multiple times in the upper torso, but was conscious as paramedics transported him to a hospital. He remains in stable condition. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Los Angeles Police spokesman James Chong says the shooter was a client of the victim.

Television footage of the shooting showed the attorney trying to duck shots from behind a tree as the shooter, an older man with graying hair and glasses, pointed a revolver at him and fired multiple times.

The attorney took a few steps after being shot then collapsed as the suspect walked calmly from the scene. Police said the shooter was tackled by an off-duty sheriff reserve officer and restrained by several officers and at least one cameraman.

Police said the suspect, identified only as "Striler," was found to have two revolvers on him when he was taken into custody. He has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Inside the courthouse, a hearing was under way in the murder case against actor Robert Blake. The shooting incident apparently was unrelated. Upon getting word of the shooting, officials promptly locked down the courthouse.

Well, wadda ya expect? She wasn't through dishing the dirt! Priorities my dear, priorities! :-)

Actually this may be a case for outlawing talking on cell phones while witnessing a shooting outside a courthouse since it could be dangerous kind of law!

The video is just jaw dropping. One second a guy is dodging bullets, the next both shooter and victim are just walking away.

And you've gotta love the guy in the background who walks from behind a building, sees what's going on, backs up, and finally just decides to keep going.

The Shooter is going to get rich!

He will sue for defective ammo, a gun that doesn't shoot straight, defective sights, the lawyer who didn't stand still, Johnny Appleseed and others.

Hear the rumble of the stampede of lawyers who want to get a percentage?

What disgusts me is that the lawyer will likely walk away scot free, despite the obvious danger that he put the tree in.

The shooter's defense can be this. He was minding his own business walking down the sidewalk when all of a sudden this lawyer jumped out from behind the tree and tried to mug him. It was self defense because the lawyer kept running around the tree trying to get him from the other side.

It looks like the lawyer kept talking too, which makes the self defense plea reasonable.

Why would anyone want to shoot a lawyer?

To free up a tee time? ;-)

Just kidding...
