I knew politics were dirty but this is out of hand. A friend of mine was struck by a car last night.
Also, to let you know, Dick Black is a very conservative Delegate for the 32nd district in Virginia. He's a fine example of humanity and a good friend.
I've removed the participants names out of courtesy.
Here is a copy of the email I received...
FYI. Be careful out there. Text in []'s is mine.
FWIW the person struck is about 6' tall and must weigh close to 300 pounds.

XXXX XXXXX and I put up an entire package of signs [for Delegate Black] last night and this morning. Let me write first that I am fine.
When we came down Algonkian Parkway, ALL of the signs we put up along the Parkway were GONE. When we got up to Lowes Island Boulevard, those signs were there. While we were waiting at the light to go back south, a car pulled up, and the man inside took down two of the signs and threw them in the back seat of the car.
I "sprinted" across Algonkian (such as it is with my ankle). I was actually RUN DOWN BY THE DRIVER! I went up the hood, into the windshield, and off the passenger's side of the windshield/roof.
I landed many feet down the road, and two lanes across the road. My glasses were about 20 feet further down the road, and my cell phone was about the same distance away, but in a different direction. He ripped up my camera case, and change was on the road. I crawled around, gathering up my stuff, then got up. My spectacles have a small divot out of one of the lenses, and my new cell phone (still in the trial period) is all scratched up. The deputy took my phone as evidence. I have no idea why, but XXXX thought he heard something on the Sheriff's radio about marks on the car.
I have abrasions on my head, knee, thigh, and hip, but thankfully nothing was broken. Though I hit my head, I never passed out. I called the Sheriff's Office, and they put out an alert. While the deputy was taking my report, they caught the guy that hit me.
He stated I threw something at him, but the deputies apparently saw through it.

You gotta love that wry sense of humor, so rare in a spiked-helmet kraut.

He was that, literally. But somehow, he looks like a fun guy, and I expect he'd have been just as home in an American Lodge Hall wearing a hat with antlers on it, a tarboosh, or a military campaign hat, field cap, or pilotka canoe cap.
It doesn't seem too much of a stretch to think of him tipping a jug with American president Andy Jackson, or with Congressman Davy Crockett of Tennessee, later one of the Texians at the Alamo.

Know what's worse? The current (and soon to be former) Commonwealth Attorney's office is refusing to file charges against the driver. I'm not surprised.
