I like another of Otto's quotes: "Never believe anything in politics until it has been officially denied."

You gotta love that wry sense of humor, so rare in a spiked-helmet kraut.

He was that, literally. But somehow, he looks like a fun guy, and I expect he'd have been just as home in an American Lodge Hall wearing a hat with antlers on it, a tarboosh, or a military campaign hat, field cap, or pilotka canoe cap.

It doesn't seem too much of a stretch to think of him tipping a jug with American president Andy Jackson, or with Congressman Davy Crockett of Tennessee, later one of the Texians at the Alamo.
