Eastwood is one of the few true professionals in Hollywood who tries to keep his personal political views out of the picture. He certainly seems to lean conservative, but that has nothing to do with his movie-making, and he's humble enough not to try to parlay screen celebrity into political stature.
No doubt he's disturbed when he makes a movie he feels great about and some of his actors make asses of themselves and drive people away from seeing it. That's sort of the antithesis to how he's conducted his career.

He used Robbins and Penn because both men are great actors, fit the roles perfectly and turned in stellar performances in that movie. They are great actors. But because they frequently use the opportunity to in effect "give the finger" to things I believe in and the people who believe in them, I think it's only proper for me to give them the finger in return by refusing to put another dime of my money in their pockets.

I guess that means the hollywood elites will nominate it for an award.

Leni Riefenstahl was well regarded for her moviemaking and acting skills. Sergei Eisenstein was also a very talented movie director. Yet they employed their skills in glorifying tyrannical regimes that murdered millions of people. Tim Robbins and Sean Penn may be talented performers. But they are apologists for Islamic extremism and avid supporters of Marxist causes. They are not run of the mill liberal Democrats like Steven Spielberg or Tom Hanks, but anti-American radicals.
The bottom line is that, irrespective of their skills, their reprehensive political views are sufficient cause to shun movies in which they are involved. Since the liberals who run the entertainment business destroy the careers of any vocal conservatives, I don't see any problem giving them a taste of their own medicine.

Add Savage to the Bill O'Reilly celebrity worship page. I love how these talk show hosts bash celebrities, but fall down in awe when they come on their shows.

Well Tim Robbins-Sarandon and Sean Spicolli-Penn, in the words of the great
Josie Wales- "some folks just need killin'"
Like the Taliban, Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden!!!

Clint Eastwood could make a mint if they just started doing Westerns again .... and find an actor that knows how to keep his mouth shut ... the guy could become a legend.

"Dying aint much of a way to make a living" Another good one. The irony is that many of the terrorists/suicide bombers do make living at it. If not for themselves, for their orphaned family.

"maybe the people are finally waking up, and they are not going to the movies of these anti-American, anti-war actors who shoot their mouths off and then think people are too stupid to remember when their movies come out....."
It has impacted my viewing decisions.

Though I thought the movie was good, if you need another reason not to see it, it's pretty darn long at 140 minutes.
To: The Green Goblin
Great, that makes 10 DVDs across the country to be sold. LOL

It was an outstanding movie. I'm going to see it agian, and plan on getting it when it comes out on DVD.It may very well be an outstanding movie. I'll never pay to see it. In the big scheme of things, missing this "outstanding" movie versus denying my money to spoiled America-hating brats...it's an easy choice. I'll just take the lovely Mrs. Freakazoid out for dinner and NO movie. We'll have extra desert, an adult beverage in my case, and just tip bigger.

it's pretty darn long at 140 minutes.I approve of movies going that long if every scene means something. This one did not drag at all.
To: JohnHuang2
I love Clint Eastwood movies but I will be darned if I buy a ticket to anything with Sean Penn ,his acting sucks.

Same here. But I was responding to someone who doesn't want to see the movie, and that's another reason for him not to see it if he's uninterested. Why did I say that? I don't know myself. I had no problems with the length.

Dennis Lehane is a very good writer and I enjoy his books tremendously. I haven't seen the movie yet so I certainly won't critique it, but if Eastwood put it out, I'll give it a chance, that's for sure.
That being said, I think that boycotting "artists" because they yammer mindlessly about things they are clueless about is a non-starter. If I did that, I'd probably have to throw away 90% of my CDs and simply never turn on the TV or watch a movie again.
Robbins (with Morgan Freeman) starred in one of the great films ever made, 'The Shawshank Redemption', Penn has been in some very enjoyable movies as well. His movie 'The Game' starring another goofball, Michael Douglas, was great.
The point is, I simply don't take anything these people say seriously so they will never upset me. It's impossible.
