Authorities Arrest Suspected Arsonist Hikers In Eaton Canyon Reported Man POSTED: 10:04 p.m. PST October 28, 2003
ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST -- A man was arrested Tuesday after deputies caught him setting a fire in a steep, remote canyon filled with dry brush and large trees in the Angeles National Forest, according to sheriff detectives.
Hikers in a remote trail about a half-mile north of the Eaton Canyon Bridge in Altadena saw a man making a fire there and alerted authorities, sheriff's Detective Ed Nordskog said.
Los Angeles County Parks officials and deputies arrived about 10 a.m. as the man was standing next to a fire about four feet in diameter. He warned the deputies to stay away and not extinguish the blaze, Nordskog said.
The man, identified as Dikran Armouchian, 23, of Pasadena, made comments about the fire he had started -- and a smaller one nearby -- as it was extinguished, Nordskog said.
Officials noted that the area was ripe for the fast spread of a fire, he said.
Armouchian, who had been reported missing by his family in Glendale, was booked at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station and held in lieu of $50,000 bail, Nordskog said.
The U.S. Forest Service's Law Enforcement Section and the Sheriff's Arson/Explosives Detail are investigating the case, Nordskog said.

50K? Considering the loss of life and property caused by these arsonists, that's kinda CHEAP.

Get a rope. No, they should just release him.
Of course, they should release him by dropping him buck naked into the center of the largest fire that is now burning. He likes fire? Give him a real big one to play in.

I hope they investigate him as a possible suspect in the
other fires as well. He was arrested 1 mile from my house!
YIKES. I wondered lastnight if all the fires could be
a terrorist scheme...since they want us to fail economically....This is devastating financially.

I'm sure that the fires are a combination of careless hikers & campers, lit cigarettes thrown out of car windows, and firebug copycats. Of course, the fault for all of the fires lies at the feet of the whacko environmentalists who have prevented any logging or even the removal of dead wood.

Both the first and last names are Armenian.
It's fairly funny, you can tell a few people get really jazzed when they see it's one of dem funny-lookin' furriner names but then you find out that there are no Muslim Armenians and it's an entirely Christian country and population.
Of course, now people are clinging to him either 1) being a Muslim convert, which is a real stretch or 2) the name being fake.

Lynching is too good for him. "Drawing and quartering" sounds better to me.
To: John H K
Well...I don't think he was there to barbeque his famous Armenian kabobs.

"Armouchian" sounds Armenian, but it desn't show up in Google searches. "Armoudian" does. Perhaps there was a misspelling.
