Guess he figures since his reelection is pretty well a lock, given the current crop of contenders, he can do what he wants when he wants. Which includes pissing off most of the Conservative base. My hope at this point is that a good "True Conservative" 3rd party candidate pops up(and I don't mean Libertarian), at least then my conscience will be clear. And we can put someone in office who will do something about our Borders, stop kissing up to the Muslims and stop spending taxpayers money like it grows on trees.

Which includes pissing off most of the Conservative base.It is a tightrope, a balancing act, between many different constituencies. It is a tough job. He wants Islam to be a religion of peace because the alternative is a world war with m/billions dead.

No president running for re-election since the NH primary has become a significant political event (post-WW2 in other words) has ever lost re-election when they faced no serious opposition in the NH primary. The deadline is next month to be on the ballot. And, the best way to stop a president is to mount a challenge in the president's party's presidential primary in NH-- every time they've lost the general. We'll all know if Bush is a lock by then.

My hope at this point is that a good "True Conservative" 3rd party candidate pops up(and I don't mean Libertarian)...This has been my dream for a long time.
A legitimate and conservative 3rd party would syphon votes and forever dilute the power of these two parties.

My hope at this point is that a good "True Conservative" 3rd party candidate pops up(and I don't mean Libertarian) For all its fecklessness, the LP has typically drawn several times more votes than any of the attempts in that direction. There just isn't a niche for that sort of "big government is bad, except that it should crack down on them weirdos" cafeteria conservatism.

"...Which includes pissing off most of the Conservative base..." Speak for yourself, please. It's arrogant to presume to speak for others. I'm a conservative and you don't speak for me.
A wise and circumspect President Bush has CORRECTLY framed this war on terror as a war between civilisation and barbarianism.
Those who insist on thinking they are wiser than he is in how this war should be framed and are busily undermining his leadership, are stupid and are, in fact, playing right into the hands of the terrorists who have been trying to frame this war as a "holy war" from the very beginning.
The DemocRATS love having so many useful idiots helping them in their efforts to undermine GWB and American interests both here and abroad.
They have to be laughing up their a$$ when they see that some of their "helpers" are supposedly "conservatives".

Re your Post #8 -- I'm with you on this one. Impatiently waiting for the third party candidate so I'll have someone to vote for.
