Brigade gets water flowing in central Iraq (Good News from Iraq!!) There's a LOT of Good News from Iraq, contrary to what the press would have us believe. Thanks to the efforts of many FReepers, the word does get out. We get our "ammo" at FR and we mass e-mail! LOL!
WE'RE PROUD OF OUR TROOPS!

EXTREME SOLAR ACTIVITY: Whew! I do believe the solar blast is still messing with things. I've had a heck of a time trying to catch up tonight because the satellite signal keeps popping off and on.
I've had the SOHO site bookmarked for quite a while now and it's one of my faves. I was blown away by the LASCO/3 animation of the solar blast! Quite a sight to behold.
Dopey me didn't think to check the sky last night....I understand the aurora was seen this far south. DANG!! I missed it! Story of my life. LOL!!

Of course you know Kathy that I am days behind on reading the threads so be patient with me if you see me responding to stuff days old.
Here is oneyou posted that I just have to say "WOOHOO" about.
Posted by Kathy in Alaska. On News/Activism 10/29/2003 8:40 PM EST #214 of 430 Patrick Miller, right, a former prisoner of war, sang "Angry American" with Keith, left, and his friend Tim Kern, background, May 10, 2003, in Valley Center, Kan., Miller's hometown. Miller used to sing the song to his Iraqi captors.

The picture of Patrick Miller singing the "Angry American" warms my heart. Thank God we have our wonderful, fantastic military men and women.

I just received this from a bud of mine who just came back from Iraq, not a long stint...He has not registered to post on FR but I know he lurks. Please join me in thanking him. He was in SA last year, who know where he will be next year. (sorry to all about how big the picture is but I have no idea how to reduce it)
Hey john, if you are reading this, thanks and whats with one beer in your hand and one sitting next to you?
DEAR FRIENDS AND FAMILY, I AM BACK SAFE FROM A SHORT TRIP TO IRAQ. ON THE WAY OUR C-130 CREW STOPPED AT THE AZORES, NAPLES, CRETE, ROTA (SPAIN), AND ST. JOHN'S NEWFOUNDLAND. IRAQ WAS VERY SANDY AND DUSTY. THE CHOW HALL WAS NOT TOO BAD, BUT THE LIVING CONDITIONS WERE NOT TO AIR FORCE STANDARDS! TALKED TO SOME ARMY GUYS, YOUNG BRAVE SOLDIERS, ABOUT TO HEAD OUT ON A LONG CARAVAN JOURNEY UP-COUNTRY. WHILE I WAS OVERSEAS, OF COURSE, THE HOUSE FURNACE BLEW OUT, AND JEANNE HAD NO HEAT OR HOT WATER, THEN THE BAR STOOL SHE WAS SITTING ON COLLAPSED! THEN THE KITCHEN TV BLEW OUT! JUST ANOTHER MILD WEEK FOR MY FAMILY. TAKE CARE EVERY ONE! JOHN PS... HERE IS A PIC OF ME IN ROTA, WITH 30 KNOT WINDS.

I took one of the helicopter tours at Kauai 2 yrs ago. It was about $150/person and worth every penny. It has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. Waimea Canyon is awesome, it really does look like "The Grand Canyon of the Pacific." I was really kicking myself that I didn't have a movie camera. Still photos just don't do it justice. That, and the Polynesian Cultural Center (also a movie camera must) were my favorite places in Hawaii.
Southern AZ mountains are blotted out by smoke today, and the smell is thick in the air. Those CA wildfires are a good 300 miles from here, it must be horrendous over there. And to think, we only lost a measly 100,000 acres in S. AZ this year :(
