Tell you what I think. I think the Schindlers went right down the well financially, dealing with Terri's condition, and that didn't take long. I've read that Mr. Schindler's retirement fund was drained. Someone ought to memo Schiavo that HUMAN PARENTS will DO things like that for their child. They made every sacrifice for her sake, but for Michael she was just a cash cow. Or a pinata.

He had guardianship, and even after it was clear what sort of fiend he was, they had to be very careful not to offend him if they wanted to keep seeing Terri. She had become a hostage.

Nyer posted a good report from the priest who is on scene from Michigan to help. If you will go to the religion forum, it is there (Fr. Rob something part 1). She's posting it in two parts. For some reason, she felt that it couldn't be posted in news.

Reason I mention it is that it makes a better rebuttal to MS' statements on LKL than the attorney did on the MR show imo. There are lots of point-by-point statements refuting MS.

No, I'm sorry, I don't remember if he even said what the question was. GB said the caller probably didn't even know how important a roll he played in helping Terri, by asking the question that made him change his mind, and then start advocating for Terri. I just remember the point he was trying to make was to not feel as if one person couldn't do anything. Sometimes one person can make a huge difference.

I saw him years ago center stage in his wheel chair at the DNC in Chicago and knew he would never go to bat for conservative causes. It's ironic, but if his wife had been like MS, he could have had the plug pulled on him. The only difference as I see it is that his brain still functions normally, unlike MS. Otherwise I see no difference between the two cases.

November 1992: In a highly emotional trial, Michael Schiavo implored the jury to award money for his wife’s future medical and neurological care. Actual excerpts from the malpractice trial transcript reveal Michael Schiavo’s sworn testimony as he responded to his attorney's question. (It is important to note that Terri’s alleged wishes stating, "she wouldn’t want to live this way," are never mentioned by her husband at the 1992 malpractice trial).

Q: Why did you want to learn to be a nurse?
Michael Schiavo: Because I enjoy it and I want to learn more how to take care of Terri.

Q: You're a young man. Your life is ahead of you. When you look up the road, what do you see for yourself?
Michael Schiavo: See myself hopefully finishing school and taking care of my wife.

Chapter 415 of the Florida Statutes provides for involuntary protective service under the Department of Children and Families whenever it is suspected that an elderly or disabled adult is the victim of abuse, exploitation, or self-neglect.  These hearings must be held on an expedited basis.  Often these cases result in criminal charges being filed for exploitation or abuse of the elderly or disabled adult. 

SO -- What is being done to challenge Michael as guardian, or to ensure Terri is represented by GAL or other advocate? I'd love to be able to rest easier . . .

Perhaps it was several days ago, cyn, that Terri's legal team filed to have another Guardian appointed, saying that Wolfson had already made it known that he was opposed to Terri's Law; therefore, he was biased. I haven't seen anything further.

I gotta try that. I use a cat. Put the cat and the kid in the kitchen, they cancel each other out for 15 minutes. After being on FR night and day for 2 weeks, I get exhausted just rigging a higher hem on a Halloween costume. Good thing I didn't have the gift of prophecy when I decided to become a parent in my 40's. The kid's a total joy---and a total challenge! :)
