May be the chronic whiners have a point; after all, the radical leftists who control the Democrat Party -- a Party endorsed by the Communist Party -- would certainly do a better job than GWB in battling terrorists (and the UN), stimulating the economy, advocating entrepreneurship (the lifeblood of our free enterprise system), protecting family/pro-life initiatives, endorsing the 2nd amendment, and stopping illegal immigration!{sarcasm!}

I work with many of the local/national members of the leftist intelligentsia and know exactly what they have planned for this country! For conservatives to 'cut off their nose to spite their faces' and put these people back in power is BEYOND TREASONOUS!!!

My family, friends and I will do whatever it takes to get President Bush re-elected. The very 'soul' of this country is at stake!

You got it kid. Us too! We just had a heart to heart with a family member and after much explaining to her about what we all believe and what she believed because she THOUGHT the dems were looking out for her, she is now we are proud to say a full blooded Republican who will also vote for Dubya and will strive to work on other lib friends of her who are being misled.

It's partly her own fault becuase she was not listening or following what was going on. She was only listening to the PROMISES, LIES AND THE LIKE that the Dems spew. Now she knows better and has come to her senses.

Here's how I see it.

The Republican Party leadership cares about one thing and one thing only. It isn't the Constitution or the Bill of Rights, it isn't conservatism, or even freedom.

They care about holding power, period.

They will cater to the middle because that's where the votes - and power - are. They will move further left, every year, until they are indistinguishable from the Democrats. No, they aren't like today's Democrats, because today's Dems keep moving to the left. Republicans simply follow 20 -30 years behind them.

Eventually we lose. There is no winning outcome to this strategy.

Now comes the hard part. If Republicans know they can smack around their base like a cheap crack hoar and still keep their votes, the base will have NO influence whatsoever.

So the base needs to teach the Republican leadership a hard lesson, and the only language they speak is Power.

The base needs to flex its muscle by abandoning unacceptable candidates. Yes, they will lose one election, and then the Republican leadership will change course. Why? Because they will pursue power. This long term stategy is the only way conservatives will continue to have any horse in the race.

The current course is a one way ticket to big government and socialism. The potential damage done by one Democratic administration is miniscule compared to what awaits us if there are no conservatives running for office.

No one is arguing that any of the current RAT candidates (nor any other RAT for that matter) would be better than George W. Bush in '04; nor that it would be a bad thing if the Congress had more Repubos in it after the '04 election; nor that the RAT Party self-destructs and is relegated to permanent minority status; nor that more Repubo governors are elected. I will always support the Pubos over the RATs.

But....if a Republican-controlled House and a Republican-controlled Senate and a Republican Executive cannot keep the Federal AW ban from sunsetting on time next September, and, indeed, even vote to not only renew but to strengthen the ban, I am going to have to seriously reconsider what to do about the almost certain long-term demise of the Constitutional Republic. Make no mistake, because, then the only difference between the two major parties will be the speed at which they are taking the Republic over the cliff to socialism. "As goes the 2nd, so goes the Republic." To me, the RKBA is a bellweather to the direction that the country is going - either freedom and libetry or socialism and slavery - it will be only a matter of time - and it won't matter one damn bit who is currently "in control."
