PALESTINE, West Virginia (AP) -- An Iraqi lawyer who helped U.S. forces in the rescue of Jessica Lynch wrapped up a tour of the soldier's hometown Monday with a trip to a garden planted in his honor.

"I will not forget. It will stay with me, in my mind, in my heart," Mohammed al-Rehaief said as a ceremonial yellow mum was planted.

I should've learned a lesson from you, don't post on fire threads.

Good lesson, that. ;0)

Although, after being nagged enough by my better half, I'm finally getting the hang of this thing people like to call "tact". Havn't perfected it yet, but I'm getting there ;0)

Oh Tom Servo just pinged the gang-let the lynching begin--pun intended.

Just reach down and unbunch those panties, sandlady. It's making you cranky.

;0)

Pretty selfish....

It is if she blew him off because of other concerns that were minor in nature.

You're kidding me right? Post # 7 writes that Lynch was brutally beaten and shot. The Army says she was neither beaten nor shot nor stabbed. I think I'll believe them on this rather than the poster, unless of course he can show us that he was there himself.

It does no cause any good whatsoever to fabricate or exaggerate. Let the facts speak for themselves. If they are not strong enough to support a position on anything then that position needs to be re-thought.

For the record, I don't care one way or another about what Lynch does or how she may or may not profit. This is America, let her do the best she can with the cards she was dealt...just keep things real.

Or, maybe she didn't want a media spectacle to be made out of it, and will meet with him privately sometime later, out of the glare of media lights.

I'll give her the benefit of the doubt on this...

The article clearly states that his visit follows the release of his book.

Respectfully, his post was a response to mine concerning some posters who choose to bash Lynch because of her "good luck." And the article doesn't really imply that Mohommed was promoting. Otherwise, I agree with your post.

"out of the glare of media lights..."

Just because the media is there doesn't mean it has to be a circus. President Bush has proven this fact post 9-11. Many times he has visited with our Military man and women during planned visits, sans camera's. She should have taken a clue from her former Cammander-In-Chief.

If this is her excuse it is weak and insulting. IMHO.

It's true that her being shot is questionable. I have read, though, that she was beaten. I'll try to find a source.

Ha! With this story? Are you kidding? The media would have gone nuts, and even the Kobe and Peterson stories would have been preempted for this!

President Bush has proven this fact post 9-11. Many times he has visited with our Military man and women during planned visits, sans camera's. She should have taken a clue from her former Cammander-In-Chief.

Well, Why would it be necessary for the media to be there at all? Is it a required thing? Is she supposed to do things now because the media, and by extension the american people, want her to?

If this is her excuse it is weak and insulting. IMHO.

And I'll give her the benefit of the doubt until a more trustworthy source confirms this... I mean, CNN? Come on. Even the LEFT thinks CNN lies...

It is definitely not questionable that she was shot or beaten. The Army's own report states this. You may search all you want but you will not find any credible source stating that her injuries were caused by either beating or gunshot.

And you know what? It should not matter. Your position regarding her should not change one degree based on the cause of her injuries, and you would do yourself credit by adhering to the known and verified facts.

Shame on her. I hope the sales of her book are very slow. She deserves none of this celebrity, she hasn't enough compassion to meet the man who put his life on the line for her. What a rude litle girl.

Is she supposed to do things now because the media....

No. She should do out of honor and respect for a person who risked everything to help her.

Again, if the media frenzy is the overriding reason, it is weak and insulting.

I don't know what the real story is. However, what we do know is he did risk his life to save hers. He did not have to do it. It is likely he did it out of compassion for her. In return, she should be kind enough to show the same respect in return. It is called common courtesy. IMHO

Some snippets:

Two U.S. officials with knowledge of the Army investigation said Lynch was mistreated by her captors. They would not elaborate.

U.S. military sources believe most if not all the fractures could have been caused by extreme compression during her vehicle accident.

Khafaji(Mahdi Khafaji, an orthopedic surgeon) said that Lynch's wounds made him suspicious. The fractures were on both sides of her body, for example, and "if they all came from a car accident, there was no glass in her wounds, no lacerations or deep bruises."

Khafaji said "maybe a car accident or maybe they broke her bones with rifle butts or by stomping on her legs. I don't know. They know and Jessica knows. I can only guess."

This is a good article and summarizes the actions of the other personel involved at the battle.
