I'd have thought the slaughter of innocent babies and children at Waco might have done it, but then I underestimated the capacity of the American people to absorb such shocks.

[The media are] Jackasses! An understatement if I ever heard one! hehehe.
I caught a snippet of that press conf. on radio, too. He said something like: "The other side of the Iraq story is that schools are being opened, libraries are being built, oil is being pumped, etc. Yes, there are terrorists there shooting at our guys because they want us to leave, but we are not going to leave." I say he should ignore the speculations of the jackasses and use the bully pulpit to the max!

To all with whom I had discussions while I was out of town, thanks for your info and your concern. The fire stayed north of my home in Upland, which was never in danger. A house I once owned years ago in the Palmer Canyon area of Claremont, however, was destroyed. The "environmentalist" bastards who have prevented reasonable forest management are going to pay for this tragedy.

The best you can do is shut your windows and doors and get air from your air conitioner - it has a filter. Worked very well last night. Clean that filter and the one in your car this weekend.

U.S. and Brit bombers caused several firestorms in Germany and Japan during WWII. I wonder if that experience tells us anything about what's happening now.

Airborne traffic helo, apparently reporting over Big Bear, to some TV station via the scanner frequency, just confirmed, Rt. 18 is backed up. Recommended road out of Big Bear, is Rt. 38.

Did you happen to get a screen capture from channel 7 ABC showing the skyline over Arrowhead? It looks like a mushroom cloud!

I have on Channel 4 feed out of LA and all you see is smoke everywhere. Is the current fire anywhere near you?

Help! Anyone have details on North Peak damage? Heck of a note to think you've lost a second home. Sorry for sounding strident, but any info beyond the loss of Wally's and Franz's restaurant would be appreciated. Thanks
