What is CPAC?
Thirty Years of Service to Conservative Principles
The "mainstream" of politics was a cliché -- much abused -- when in 1973 a handful of true believers met in the Nation's capital. Their sole purpose was to affirm their support of the conservative ideal. What they started -- with the first Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) -- has become over the ensuing three decades, the premier annual gathering of conservatives and one of the most important political events in the nation.
CPAC is designed to advance important everyday issues such as taxes, crime, culture and foreign policy and to provide basic conservative viewpoints and solutions. CPAC always features recognized national elected officials, leaders and grassroots activists from around the country.
The mushrooming growth of CPAC attests not that the "right" has moved "center" but that conservatism is the true nucleus of American political thought. Some may attribute its "sudden popularity" to the excesses of liberalism over the years and they wouldn't be wrong ... however, all true conservatives know it runs much deeper than that.
America itself was founded on the principles of conservatism and has yearned to return to that basic philosophy. Thirty years ago CPAC was warranted and timely. Today it has become even more so. The growth of the conservative movement in America is anything but a temporary swing of the pendulum. Rather, it is a steady course begun more than 200 years ago -- set, strengthened and renewed for the past 30 years, with CPAC playing a key role in that process.
Now, in the new millennium, as we endeavor to pursue the goals that will ensure the prosperity of the United States of America and the continued quest for Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms and liberties we sound the call for a renewed and enthusiastic commitment to these principles by conservatives across America. You can be a part of that effort
but only if you are there. Join us at CPAC!

The way Matt Drudge performed the other day, I'd like him to be a speaker!

List of invited speakers: Rush Limbaugh. ...chuckles. Well, I hope they at least invite his brother David. His new book, Persecution sounds awesome from the reviews I've read and I couldn't put down his previous book, Absolute Power. I would love to meet him and have already registered for CPAC. See y'all there!

There isn't any FR related events at CPAC, although we maybe speaking on one the panels.
Generally we hang around together. We all put the booth up on Wednesday and go to dinner. For the rest of conference we usually attend the panels, have lunch and of course, hang out in the Hotel Sports bar.

Sounds good! Do people (FR, that is) go to the extra banquets or not? I'm just afraid that if I buy those tickets, I'll be the only one going, and that if I don't, I'll be the only person not going to those.

Some people do go and some people don't. I know that doesn't help too much. :^)
You are usually seated with other FR people at the banquets if you register that you are with FR. People who do not attend usually all go out together for dinner and meet up later at the hotel.

Sounds like VOC wants to stay at the Marriott so we don't have to move far. I guess our room can be used for storage.

Thanks for the info -- I guess I'll just see who the speakers or whatever are for the banquets. This will be my first CPAC, so please be gentle with me. :)
