I've been wondering about Santa's Village near Crestline too...childhood memories. And Pine Rose Cabins on Highway 189 in Twin Peaks. When I was growing up they were called Dowd's Cabins and owned by friends of my grandparents.

640 am is reporting that the Santa Ana winds will be blowing in San Bernardino, Riverside, and Orange counties now until sometime tomorrow when the winds will shift in from the ocean.

Val Verde is now listed as an arson fire

The fire is backing into Descanso, and should arrive this afternoon. US Forest Service has put a ton of resources in and are standing by. There's dozers working north of town. I'd say they'll be biting fingernails and watching the wind direction 'til morning.

They are also evacuating in the Chatsworth area -- Box Canyon, Twin Lakes, etc. and a small parts of the City of LA -- the girl reported that there is huge thick black smoke arising from the fire. This fire in Simi Valley was intentionally set -- report just came in.

I listened to Dufus on MSNBC earlier today, demanding that the Bush administration get out there and fix the inferno caused by his environazi policy YESTERDAY - of course, he didn't put it that way. Naturally, HIS ilk are not to blame. These devestating wildfires, caused by years of envirowacko, "fire is our friend" policy, are his fault and the fault of everyone who fought and sued to get these policies in place, but somehow this is the fault of a president who has only been in office three years.

Dufus didn't even bother asking for outside help until this morning. Now he's on an whining tour of the state. He makes me sick. Shame his recall couldn't have been retroactive.
