Oh boy, Thank God. My friend lives about 1/2 mile from there. I hope this means they are really out of danger now. I think I need a break from the computer... a little emotionally draining.

Any idea what's burned in Crestline? I have property on Seeley Way. I've called the neighbors and they don't answer. I have to assume they've been evacuated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you heard anything else about Descanso? I haven't heard a thing. I have friends there who have been evacuated and I haven't heard from them since yesterday.

My co-worker lives in Vista near you, and just went home to be with her son in case they get the call to evacuate. She said that the wind is picking up, and she's moving photo-albums into the car just in case, gathering up the animals.
Another co-worker heard from a reliable source (and confirmed with KOGO 600 in San Diego) that the military aerila firefighting units are gassed up, sitting on the runway, just waiting for the official request from Gray Dufus, WHICH HAS NOT HAPPENED YET!!! She is furious, has 3 military families staying with her right now, spouses are deployed with husband right now.
Anyone have the contact info handy for Davis' office?

Mt. Woodson is the one area of Highway 67 that has NOT been reopened. The Mountain itself is the site of a lot of public safety radio gear, and they're making plans to try to save it. Apparently still active fire on the mountain itself, though slow-moving. The southeast end of Ramona (near Old Julian Highway) is still in play too.

He's talking to SanDiego mayor.....
Now those out of state can see another reason why we worked so hard to get rid of him....He tends to hide....and get nothing done....
kinda reminds me of Nero....Gray fiddles around, too.

The Santa's Village did close a few years ago, but I believe the buildings are still there. I am having no luck in trying to figure out how far away it is from the fire. If they are being evacuated, in that area, I guess I have my answer...
To: PhiKapMom
Isn't there a high school right in that area? I hate that road -- Rim of the World Drive -- look down on the right going toward Big Bear and it is straight down for a long way! If that's the road I think it is, my wife and I caught a lift from Big Bear to Wrightwood via that road. The guy who drove us was also a driver for the local bus service in Big Bear Lake. He told us that people have been ticketed for crossing over into the opposing lane, even if just for a second. I guess accidents are common enough that they have to keep people on their toes. The other thing I remember is how clean the air was up there, and how the smog became increasingly evident as we descended.

that area was told to evacuate on Saturday night I believe, the hard closure is now at Big Bear Damn....no one heading west.

With all the devastation, hearing that another home was spared is great news!
The winds right now are almost nothing. I hope it stays that way.

Just heard on KUSI that the fire at I-15 & 76 was small, and has now been extinguished by the CDF.

Well, since Sky Forrest is just up the mountain from Lake Arrowhead going toward 18...I don't hold much hope for it. My Mom's church has a wonderful mini-retreat size cabin in Sky Forrest, just above 18. I doubt it will be there when this is over.

I live right at the other end of Father Junipero Trail (NE end of Mission Trails Park) and all is fine here. It came within 1/4 miles (or so) last night but its quiet here now.
It burned down to the green water line by the lake, under the 52 bridge west of Mast Blvd. But the water and the green stopped it.
Instead, it looks like it burned through the gorge and towards the San Carlos area, bypassing us. Still very smoky here though.

On the corner of PCH and Artesia in Hermosa Beach.
Great Church. Our Pastor knows The Word inside and out, and feeds us meat--not milk. A great place to get to know Christ and learn how to serve him.

The growing Alpine fire is troubling Yeah, they've got a couple of hot spots around Viejas at the moment. The resource shortage is maddening, apparently there's just a few more groups on the way, then everything else is coming from Arizona and Nevada. If we could just manage a knockdown on one of the fires somewhere in this end of the state it'd be a huge help
Interesting trivia, particularly for the "only in California" group around here, the heaviest area of structure damage from the Paradise fire was a street called "Yellow Brick Road".
