Don't you get it? One fire looks just like another fire..
(sarcasm off)

The problem is ... they are not showing the extent of the fires. There is nothing showing the relative size of the areas burning. Like a map of southern california and blazes. No graphic to show how MASSIVE this mess really is..

Hang in there,

Tess

the LAFD helos are asking which neighborhoods in Chatsworth have been given mandatory evacuation notices...they are mentinoning Twin Lakes, and along Iverson and the 118. This is immediately west of the DeSoto Ave exit off 118.

listening to the county feeds, it sounds like something is making a run down the mtn.

Was talking about the San Bernardino Forest. I know they have not been able to clear out the trees, etc., killed by the beetles.

People are really dumb if they don't clear out the underbrush -- really dumb! I can remember burning chaparral in the backyard after clearing it off before putting in a lawn. The chaparrel went up in seconds and ended up ash in the blink of an eye. If that isn't cleared out, a wildfire would expand very rapidly.

If it was on the East Coast or a car chase, it would be 24/7. Living West of the Mississippi could cause an inferiority complex. Used to think it was only us here in flyover country, but it seems it is the entire Western Half of the US -- that is when it happens in conservative areas -- not much here -- move on!

I know this has been discussed at great length on this thread...but the lack of attention by the cable feed news stations over the weekend and overall has been just astounding. The LA station KFI640 has done a great job with coverage, however. [head shaking]

Thanks for the info! Sounds like the winds in that area have picked up!

Wouldn't know it by cable news.

I started listening to 640 during the Recall election and forgot how much I had enjoyed it when I lived there. Hard to believe how many roads are closed down in the San Bernardino Cty area.

KTLA went to Maury Povich this morning instead of staying with the fire!

Now we have the important GQ men of the year on Fox News!

Disgusting!

Poway, as far as I know, is ok. The fire touched Poway but went by very quickly to the south and west.

To people who don't live in San Diego, let me tell you, the size and the spread of this fire is overwhealming. The area it covered and how fast it did is unbelievalble.

Torrance is okay. North LA...I would need more specific information.

Simi Valley fire is still going strong and they have been working hard to preserve the Library.

Isn't there a high school right in that area? I hate that road -- Rim of the World Drive -- look down on the right going toward Big Bear and it is straight down for a long way!
