I was just out in Yucaipa 2 weeks ago. It is realllly dry up in the hills above Yucaipa. I was up at Pilgrim Pines if you know where that is, about a half mile above all the apple places. Bone dry there.

well tin my Scottish rosy red arse as well but I'm more afflicted 'o the disease.....get this........
have ya noticed that as soon as Arnold won(meaning
no more courts too) that grocery stores went on strike???
trucks that drive goods to said stores ...on strike too
ass some ELF twerps getting a call from the dem union thugs and walla big ass all over freeway fires
would both hurt Arnold elect and make financial fixes disteant now........
I mean who the dems gonna call, Saddam's gone

I checked mapquest, and see 110 going toward the ocean. Is that the highway you mean? That's the one, going the other way. In Santa Monica there's a sign that delcares it to be "The Christopher Columbus Transcontinental Highway", I assume there is one more sign like it on the other end...

They are not covering the western flank of a fire near Devore -- the fire came over the hill overnight. This is the western flank of the Old Fire -- burned more than 24,000 acres -- 4 homes lost overnight! It is burning near the I-215/I-15 interchange.
There is no way that so many fires can be burning so close to major Interchanges and Freeways -- the chances are very slim.
When are they going to totally outlaw all shake roofs out there? In Devore, the vegetation is right up to the houses in this area with older homes.
Fires burning at Rim of the World up the mountain from Devore.
Chatsworth still looking good -- fire is about 1-2 miles from Chatsworth.

The grocery contract expired the week after Arnold won. I wear tin hats at times, but this just was going to happen.
I have a cat with respiratory problems. He is not doing very well today. Probably going to have to go to the vet today to pick up some medication.
I wish the president would get FEMA in, the fires are now half the size of Rhode Island. Our national guard is busy in Iraq. We need some federal help here.

What are the chances of so many fires being in the area of freeways?
In the Los Angeles area the chances are really pretty good. It's pretty hard to find areas around here that are not close to freeways! And a lot of the freeways run along mountain sides full of brush and dead grass.

"They just announced on KTLA that the wind is low enough this morning that they believe they can protect all this housing development east of the 118. Reporting Chatsworth is not in immediate danger because the winds are not blowing that way."
That's what I'm hearing on KFI, too.

Per Fox this morning the President was asked the question about FEMA going to Calif. FEMA are on their way to address the situation. That was my understanding. Good Luck and God Speed.

I've now reached the conclusion that no cable TV news outlet is a reliable source for pertinent information for our community, our family, or our entire state.
I'm disgusted by the lack of coverage by the cable TV outlets.
I refuse to call them "major".
After this week, they look MINOR.
Free Republic looked MAJOR because Free Republic did more to coordinate people and get info out.

I know not much info. Thank God for Freepers! In regard to FEMA at least that came from the President himself.

there is the answer.....we bombard Brit/Fox with
........ONE QUESTION................
WHY ,Fox did all cable and networks avoid
the fire story......WHY ?
To: dogbyte12; Mo1; All
Good point, but last night the idiot running FEMA said that Gray Davis' admin needed to submit more paperwork.
I find that disgusting.
The White House needs to shut up the bureaucrat, load the President on a plane, and land him in San Bernardino to directly address the suffering people of California.
If I don't see him in person on the ground in the fire areas, he will not get ONE DIME from our family for his campaign.

If one of the cable news channels went to full time coverage of the fires, and did it well with constantly updated maps and identified filming rather than just talking heads, they'd grab massive viewer share. But they have not learned a thing from the popularity of freeway car chases. Instead, they believe news to be a pretty face with the lips moving.
To: LibertyAndJusticeForAll
you know the CDF use to reseed after any of the fires, but that was a long time ago when I was a kid, I don't think thay do that anymore
To: cars for sale
yesterday, the FR guys began sending those messages to Fox and Tony Snow seemed to alter the coverage on FNC's Sunday Live show.
Still, the FNC people didn't have people on the ground in position to report what was occurring.
Instead of the major news channels being plugged into the command centers, they put their lovely reporter at a cul-de-sac and proceeded to have the lame reporter pose for a visual.
Who gives a rip about the pretty boy or girl reporter on the cul-de-sac!
They should be putting a key responsible reporter at each command center and then show where the front line of the fire is located.
