It was the LA County fire spokesman -- he said winds are shifting and they are concerned that the fire is making its own winds now and could start burning west if it breaks through the lines at Chatsworth. Just reporting what the LA County Fire Spokesman was saying.

You know how easy it is to mispronounce netnames in your head? I know yours is let-it-ring but I keep saying "le tiring" to myself and it makes me chuckle. Just thought I'd share. hehe

You know, I keep thinking letitring is "Le tit ring". Yes, bad, I know. And amusing.

"It looks like WWIII."

A FReeper over the weekend took issue with my unhappiness about the relative TV coverage of the fires (very poor) vs. the East Coast blackout (wall-to-wall). Yes, I know the blackout covered a few states and started at rush hour, and no one knew what caused it at first, but the bottom line is that with the blackout, people were inconvenienced. What's happening here is unimaginable death and devastation (and we're not *absolutely* positive what "caused" this in every instance, either). This also affects people across the country who are wondering if their loved ones are safe or have their homes. Maybe if he were in the middle of all this he'd see things differently.

Bush policy of clearing fuel in forests etc is a whole mistake...

THESE FORESTS HAVEN'T BEEN CLEARED for YEARS and YEARS because of the ENVIROWackos~!. That's why California is a sea of fire right now. IT'S THE ENVIRO WACKOS' FAULT.

(not yelling at you).

It's been slowly creeping west; I am concerned about it coming South! The smoke is so bad outside that it hurts your throat.

It's truly incredible. I feel so blessed that the one friend I have up in Crestline, due with a baby in two weeks and with three-year-old in tow, made it to a hotel early yesterday and is safely put with her husband. She logged in to tell us last night. It was so sweet of her to go to the trouble. They have no idea the status of their home, but they got out with their lives.

Makes me tear up just to think about her. I told her to get her heinie up here and stay with me when she's ready -- but they don't want to go far. She's clinging to the hope that she can "go home in a few days."

Just as an aside, the moved Monday Night Football game was free. 55,000 in attendance. They didn't have time to print and market tickets.

I find the lack of coverage of the CA fires appalling. They spend more time on a car chase then they are spending on these fires. I cannot believe it -- what is it -- if it isn't happening on the East Coast, it doesn't happen and no one is interested.

Could this be misleading like those stories from Washington DC during the sniper man hunt?

Do Y'all have a "Chief Moose" on the force? He had alterior motives as best as I could tell. If the police leadership in your area has similar motives, then the van story could be misleading.
