Someone should publicize a shoot-to-kill order for anyone seen setting fires. This gets my vote.
I can smell smoke now that the winds have shifted. Means the smoke will drift east now.

Do you guys think these stories of vans are off target?
Could this be misleading like those stories from Washington DC during the sniper man hunt?
I remember that the law enforcement authorities were talking about a white moving van when in fact the sniper was in a car.

I am finally able to get back on here! I'm having so much trouble with my AOL connection at home, I am ready to quit!
I just got off the phone with my brother Nik in Santee. He sent me some pics but I am unable to download them at home. I will try to access them and post them at work tomorrow..
Everything has burned out around his area, his back yard is covered with soot and embers. Cars and houses covered with ash, air quality is deadly. They have been told to stay indoors. Praise Lord everyone is okay, their home was spared.
He was in LA with the boys yesterday, boys playing in a hockey tournanment in the facility next to LAX. They drove back last night and he said that literally most of southern CA is on fire. Lots of freeways closed, the ones that were open were a mess.
San Diego pretty much shut down, not sure when schools will re-open. He has 3 schools within a 3 mile radius of his home and all were used as shelters.
He was pretty freaked out today...he said that you could look directly at the sun without damaging your eyes because of the smoke...can see the black spots on the sun with the naked eye...

re post no. 1154:
Nope. I'm not ruling anything out either.
There's a number of DOMESTIC enviro wackos that have been in the news in this past year for their suspected activities and then there's the other groups that are just plaiin scary.
I'm leaving the conclusions up to the investigators,

Pictures of Simi Valley look like an inferno. There are no words...

Thank you for posting that picture.

"It's an oxygen thing. :)"
Actually, it's a heat thing. Going uphill the flames are closer to the fuel they're about to burn, making ignition easier. Downhill, they're leaning back.

I second the livestock storage, although I'm 90 minutes drive up from the L.A. basin. I have a fenced few acres, barn, stalls. Thank you! But if the Simi fire goes much further east, it'll hit the 405, and just north, the juncture of the 5 and 14. There won't be any way to get up there.

Was back there recently and drove my youngest daughter all over the area including Rim of the World drive. We stayed in Redlands for the night and I drove her up to Date Ave where we lived to see the mountains at night. She was born at Loma Linda Hospital so she is a California native and wanted to look at the whole area.
Just cannot fathom that beautiful area being under siege by the fire. Can still remember the first time that someone pointed out the Arrowhead on the side of the mountains and saw my first snow on San Gorgonio and it came down the mountains the week after we arrived in the Norton AFB area. It was absolutely gorgeous to see the snow from Mount Baldy all the way around the rims of the mountains and down sides of the mountains.
Vowed that day to buy a house with the backyard looking at the mountains which we did in Yucaipa! Brings tears to the eyes to realize that an area this beautiful is under seige because of someone starting the fire. Makes me want to bring back burning at the stake for those two lowlifes that have started this fire!

ahhh shucks...just trying to convey the scene here. Will be heading down to Hemet in about an hour. Will keep my eyes peeled for anything. Hemet is about 20 miles south of me thru a mountain pass called Lamb's Canyon. Rt 79. Hemet is north of the Sage fire. FYI

Yeah. I just realized that as I hit send. If that happens there won't be any way to get out of the basin, period, except east over toward Coachella! Or is I-15 still open?
I'm not wishing for it, God knows, but I wonder why the Angeles Natl Forest/San Gabriels have remained untouched in this.
