LONDON, Oct. 25 Syria cannot stop militants entering Iraq to attack U.S. forces, Syrian Foreign Minister Farouq al-Shara said in an interview with a British Sunday newspaper.
-- snip --
''They are very determined and many of them dream of seeing an American tank,'' Shara said of militants who cross the border into Iraq.
''We are doing everything we can,'' he told the Sunday Telegraph. ''We have tightened our checkpoints and are turning people back. But the border is long and we cannot cover it all.
''If America, a rich superpower cannot stop Mexicans crossing into the United States, then how can we, a poor country, be expected to stop Palestinians getting into Iraq.''

Illegal Mexicans and illegal aliens from any other country.... yes you are correct. Sue me.
Maybe you should move out of Texas, if that's inconvenient for you.
This is my home, thank you. I'm not going anywhere. The illegals that have invaded and trashed my home state should be the ones to leave.
The fact that the Mexican government is a socialist one and won't improve the quality of life for its people, so they can stay and work there, does not mean that the Mexicans here are inherently evil, just like you want to paint them.
I have no tolerance for illegal immigrants of any nationality. Mexico's political situation is not our problem---you and other illegal alien apologists need to realize that there are millions worldwide that have been patiently waiting for years to move here legally.
You are channeling your frustrations towards the wrong target.
I have channelled my frustration in this thread towards the Bush administration and the illegals that break our immigration laws that come here. I believe my frustration is being vented at the correct target(s).
And before you bash me, I'm a legal immigrant.
I will "bash" (your word) anyone that is an apologist for illegals that break our immgration laws. And you seem to fit that description based on your posting.
I came back to Houston to find that two of the FM radio stations that I used to listen to have gone Mexican. Very depressing.(Post to Libery Valance)
Didn't see you being hostile towards illegal immigrants from other countries, but specifically towards Mexicans.

Illegal alien apologist??? Look at my profile, man!!! You wont' find a stronger supporter of immigration control than me, because of the fact that I followed the law of the United States in order to enter this country. My beef with you is that you want to pinpoint it to a certain group of people, and that, my friend, is called racism.
I'm not carrying the water for the illegal aliens, but your posts reek of racism, and that's equally inadmisible. Being in favor of immigration control does not equal being racist.
I believe that people that move here ought to adapt and assimilate to the English language (like you apparently have).
I have not a racist bone in my body. Stop being so sensitive.
If it seems as I am attacking Mexicans, I have very good reasons for it
Chirac is not over here trying to lobby Bush to legalize illegal French people. Vicente, on the other hand, is lobbying for his millions of illegal expats.
And as there is no Mexican "race" (Mexicans, in case you were unaware, come in all shades...from dark brown to whiter than white), I hardly see how it could be considered 'racism'.
Can we please start with the ones that live in the apartments surrounding my neighborhood? I'm sick of seeing empty beer bottles and cans and dirty diapers on the apartment grounds.
You originally and again pinpointed the Bush administration as the one that won't enforce immigration laws, yet you cited the 1986 amnesty as a prime cause of the problem. That was on Reagan's watch. I first jumped you about singling out the Bush administration instead of ALSO jumping on all the others before his. If it's that your frustration is directed against any of the current or previous administrations, you should say so. Otherwise it's as I said, you're doing the work of a DU infiltrator.
The INS and other government policies that don't strictly enforce immigration laws greatly harm legal immigrants, especially those with Hispanic surnames. The justifiable discrimination against illegals spreads itself on legals or citizens with similar ethnic or cultural backgrounds because of the perception that "they're all the same" when they're not.
Those policies do more political damage than can be described. They tend to maintain the political loyalties toward the democratic party when THAT is who keeps them oppressed by denying proper sewer, drainage, roads, and all kinds of other services their "Anglo" citizen counterparts fully expect to enjoy. The policies work to divide the legitimate Hispanic citizens from the rest of the country and ally them with the illegitimate aliens. Because they're painted with the same brush, and their origins are often similar, the legitimate ones are generally sympatico with the illegitimate ones thanks in GREAT part to people who can't tell the difference and don't want to learn.
Are you part of that latter group if you're not a DU infiltrator?
Nonsense.
Bush is a legitimate target right now because he is doing absolutely nothing about the border and is, in fact, enabling and encouraging more to come with his attitude. Reagan is long gone and I was a disinterested teenager during his presidency. I had no idea the implications of the Amnesty program. I was too interested in football, homecoming games, dates, and who was going to buy beer for me.
Bush Jr. is leaning towards an amnesty program as well----I am old enough to vote and pay taxes now so I will direct my anger and point the blame to the current administration.
Otherwise it's as I said, you're doing the work of a DU infiltrator.
Yawn....okay! Reagan is to blame as well. Satisfied? But Reagan is retired now and venting my anger towards him does absolutely nothing. George Bush is in power now and can do something about it.....but he cares too much about those big campaign donations he'll lose from businesses that employ illegals.

Agreed.

Ever heard of the municipality Crystal City, Texas? The city council bankrupted the city because they decided that their citizens "deserved" running water, sewage, and paved roads and they overspent their resources. My grandmother is still alive and she didn't grow up with sewage and running water. Why should anyone, regardless of race, expect these amenities? There are still many places in the US that have 'outhouses'.
Because they're painted with the same brush, and their origins are often similar, the legitimate ones are generally sympatico with the illegitimate ones thanks in GREAT part to people who can't tell the difference and don't want to learn.
I don't know of any legal immigrants that are sympathetic to illegal aliens (as you claim). The legal immigrants I know, in fact, resent illegal immigrants.
Are you part of that latter group if you're not a DU infiltrator?
You caught me. I'm a DU infiltrator.
After a one week warning period, the word will get out that the border is closed, and the invaders will stop coming.
Scoff.
With their new drivers licenses for illegals they can! p>Great come back Syria!
PS I hate Syria, Syrains and 99.99999% of all muslims but you have to admit they are right on the money with that remark! :)
