I have channelled my frustration in this thread towards the Bush administration and the illegals that break our immigration laws that come here.

You originally and again pinpointed the Bush administration as the one that won't enforce immigration laws, yet you cited the 1986 amnesty as a prime cause of the problem. That was on Reagan's watch. I first jumped you about singling out the Bush administration instead of ALSO jumping on all the others before his. If it's that your frustration is directed against any of the current or previous administrations, you should say so. Otherwise it's as I said, you're doing the work of a DU infiltrator.

The INS and other government policies that don't strictly enforce immigration laws greatly harm legal immigrants, especially those with Hispanic surnames. The justifiable discrimination against illegals spreads itself on legals or citizens with similar ethnic or cultural backgrounds because of the perception that "they're all the same" when they're not.

Those policies do more political damage than can be described. They tend to maintain the political loyalties toward the democratic party when THAT is who keeps them oppressed by denying proper sewer, drainage, roads, and all kinds of other services their "Anglo" citizen counterparts fully expect to enjoy. The policies work to divide the legitimate Hispanic citizens from the rest of the country and ally them with the illegitimate aliens. Because they're painted with the same brush, and their origins are often similar, the legitimate ones are generally sympatico with the illegitimate ones thanks in GREAT part to people who can't tell the difference and don't want to learn.

Are you part of that latter group if you're not a DU infiltrator?

Bush is a legitimate target right now because he is doing absolutely nothing about the border and is, in fact, enabling and encouraging more to come with his attitude. Reagan is long gone and I was a disinterested teenager during his presidency. I had no idea the implications of the Amnesty program. I was too interested in football, homecoming games, dates, and who was going to buy beer for me.

Bush Jr. is leaning towards an amnesty program as well----I am old enough to vote and pay taxes now so I will direct my anger and point the blame to the current administration.

Otherwise it's as I said, you're doing the work of a DU infiltrator.

Yawn....okay! Reagan is to blame as well. Satisfied? But Reagan is retired now and venting my anger towards him does absolutely nothing. George Bush is in power now and can do something about it.....but he cares too much about those big campaign donations he'll lose from businesses that employ illegals.

Agreed.

Ever heard of the municipality Crystal City, Texas? The city council bankrupted the city because they decided that their citizens "deserved" running water, sewage, and paved roads and they overspent their resources. My grandmother is still alive and she didn't grow up with sewage and running water. Why should anyone, regardless of race, expect these amenities? There are still many places in the US that have 'outhouses'.

Because they're painted with the same brush, and their origins are often similar, the legitimate ones are generally sympatico with the illegitimate ones thanks in GREAT part to people who can't tell the difference and don't want to learn.

I don't know of any legal immigrants that are sympathetic to illegal aliens (as you claim). The legal immigrants I know, in fact, resent illegal immigrants.

You caught me. I'm a DU infiltrator.

Accusing Hennepin of being a "DU infiltrator" is a needless joke. Hennepin is right. NEITHER party is taking a stand on illegal aliens. My Republican congressman on Capitol Hill says he can't get anything done about illegal immigration MAINLY due to lack of support from fellow Republicans AND the Bush Administration.

Tom Tancredo is bucking the odds and I admire his integrity because he has the courage to speak out and take a leadership role, whereas the vast majority of politicians in both parties just duck and run for cover on this issue.
