I survived the Democratic Debates and all I got was this lousy headache.

Posted on 10/26/2003 9:18:53 PM PST by Hillary's Lovely Legs

This evening I was dishonored to attend the Democratic Presidential Debate at the fabulous Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan.

I was surrounded by 5,000 Democrats. To make things worse I was also in the same room at the 9 candidates, Carl Levin, Debbie Stabenaugh, Carolyn Cheeks-Kilpatrick, Debbie Granholm and TERRI MCAULIFF!!!

Fox News Reporter Kelly Wright was the MC. He told us that we had to clap loudly when the show started, and then to control ourselves during the show.

There is an irony here. The debates were carried on Fox News, but you can't get Fox News on local Detroit Cable. You have to have a dish. Kelly asked how many folks want Fox News to be carried in Detroit and he was met with a round of Boos. It's obvious that Detroit doesn't want Fox in their homes.

Kelly then introduced all the VIPs in the audience. Jennifer Granholm, Debbie Stabenaugh, and Terry McAuliff got the loudest applause and standing ovations. It was puke making.

He told a couple of jokes and sang a little and then the show was on.

I noticed that I was sitting next to a John Kerry supporter, a couple of Edwards supporters, Dean, Braun and Sharpton.

The debate was on. I took vociferous notes, but I am not going to bore you with every question and answer, so if you would like a specific impression of a question, feel free to ask.

I will mention the highlights.

Carol Mosely-Braun is a liar. She stated that she left her office with dignity and that her reputation remains intact. If her reputation is that of a scoundrel and a thief, then yes, her reputation is intact.

The audience HATED Joe Lieberman. There was no clapping for him. Only booing and heckles. I don't know if it is because the audience was anti-semetic or that Lieberman supported the war. The audience was highly anti-war, and totally anti-Bush.

Shaption was a hit. When he blasted the Patriot Act and said that he would negotiate with Arafat, the audience was spell bound. Then when he stated that this election was a 'Battle between the Christian Right and the Right Christians" the crowd lept to their feet in a deafening applause. I haven't heard applause like that since I saw Styx and the Babies at the Cow Palace in 1979. ( in my notes it states..."I am surrounded by idiots and morons")

Kusinich is a total lightweight. He said that he wanted to start the Department of Peace to bring non-violence to America. He stated that last month Detroit had a slaughter of 300 people.

My friend and I looked at each other and said " did we miss something? When did we lose 300 people? Ok, Dennis, whatever you say.

My impressions of the candidates in person..... Kerry is scary. He is HUGE. He is even scarier in person. He has no presence.

Edwards... Pretty boy. The gals loved him. Even my friend said that he had a nice smile. I told her that it was the smile of a snake.

Sharpton is a buffoon, but he was definately a crowd pleaser. Most people said that they liked Sharpton.

Kusinich is a freak. He had a large following there, since he is from Ohio. He thinks that we need to give 12,000,000 students 'free' tuition. He said that we need to give 'free kindergarden' to 3-5 year olds, therefore saving parents $7000. Where is Dennis going to get all this ' free' money?

Braun is annoying, Lieberman tries but he just can't get any respect, but it was Dean and Clarke that are evil.

Dean is Frankestien. I swear that his head had to have been sewn on. It's not the right head for the body. He's evil and mean and I want to smack in him the face with an oar. He revels in his anti-war stance.

Clarke is crazy. He's that uncle who took a hit to the head in the war and you have to cut his meat for him. That guy has big problems.

I can conclude with what the democrats taught me tonight.

...Bush is wrong about everything.

...Cheney, Powell, Rice, Wolfowitz, and Rumsfeld are stupid people and don't know what in the world they are doing.

...We lost the Iraq War. We have no end strategy and it's another Vietnam.

...Speaking of Vietnam, did you know that Kerry was a veteran? I am glad he mentioned it 3 times or I wouldn't have known.

...The Bush tax cut is bad.

...We are all going to hell in a handbasket.

It's far worse to be in person with these people than to watch them on television. I am never going to do that again. I learned my lesson and taken my punishment.

I forced myself to watch it on TV. I actually enjoyed it for a while. It's really a comedy show. They are so predictable. As soon as anyone got a chance to answer a question, it was well Bush is bad and we need a change. Hmmm last I heard bush had a better than 50% approval rating.
Hey It was like a three ring circus, yes and Al Sharpton is a bafoon. I had some really good laugh's, it the regular guy in America really buying this bunch of C**P?

And Liberman, is still mad about the 2000 election, truely amazing..

Thanks for the report, HLL. Can't we come up with a FReeper Medal for Bravery, or for having an iron stomach, or some such?

The applause for Sharpton was twice as loud as it should have been. I wish I could have seen the powerful Dem elites nervously faking hysteria. Sad.

I lasted a whole 15 or 20 minutes, then I had to walk away from my TV. Even my Democrat father is fed up with the line-up the democrats have out there. And he absolutely hates Bush !!!!!!! He told me the other day he will "not vote" if any of these people will be the Dem`s choice ( hillary is out as well). I was shocked to here this because I know how much he hates Republicans ( except me of course ) and GW. He is what I would call a moderate democrat. This is the problem the Dem`s are facing with the anti-war , extreme liberal agenda they are spouting. The moderates in their party are not real happy, and are getting turned off. Keep it up Dem`s, your base is fracturing at the seams.

I watched it, the first one I've watched.

I watched the first debate that FNC sponsered with the Black Democratic Caucus. I couldn't bear to watch this one Kusinich is a freak.

I agree, he was downright creepy.

You know those cariactures (sp) that you see of the president with those goofy ears? They be perfect for Kucinich

I have to admit, I really liked Gwen's bringing up of each candidate's "rap". Those guys don't take honest criticism well at all.

ool.

YOu spent all that time (so I didn't have to!) and I was able to limit my gut-wrenching observations to a mere 3 seconds of it on TV .....

And your concise synopsis covered everything in 25 seconds!

The more lunatic fringe, the better, really. They haven't figured that out yet, and hopefully they never will.

Losing with Gore will be remembered as the highlight in LIEberman's career... And the stooge knows it.

I won't hold my breath for the headlines tomorrow about how socialist the candidates are.

That's about the same impression I got from watching it on FOX, I pity you for having to be among so many liberals.

My overall opinion of these 9 nattering nabobs is that they stand for NOTHING and stang against America

Oh gosh, I forgot to mention that there was a man outside of the theatre selling 'HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT' t-shirts, and inside they threw out green and white 'PRO-CHOICE' t-shirts.

When they threw one my way, I didn't try to catch it.

It's not so much the candidates that I find worrisome - it's the nature of their supporters that evokes the torchlit Nuremburg rallies of the 1930s. These people are being ratcheted up into a paroxysm of hate for folks like us. If history's any indicator, if these peoel ever manage to acquire total power, the streets will run with blood.

Did you see how much makeup Dean had on? He was white, not his normal made up tone. I think he is also slowly dying his hair gray too.

"extreme liberal agenda they are spouting."

Of course you know when it comes to the General Election they will move to the center to grab the most votes they can.

Primary= go left to get the nomination
General election = move center to get the votes,

even the Dems know that most of America is more right leaning than left.
