Any news about Lakeside, near Santee? How bad is it there?
To: Tuscaloosa Goldfinch
The biggies are in S.Cal..big worry now is "vortex" winds that rapidly change direction. San Diego has major league problems and many of the front line vets seem to think that the entire senario is very "uncanny" and may be linked to terrorists and/or unhappy Davis supporters! NO JOKE!

remember in your prayers the tens of thousands trapped tonight in their cars with terrified crying children. Much of SD County is in gridlock.

Wish-I-could-stay-up-all-night-and-stand-watch-but-going-to-bed-and-praying-for-y'all bump.
Thank you, nic, for outstanding reporting! Who needs CNN, et al, when we have FR?

The current leading fire origin story going around is a lost hunter firing a flare gun last night up near Ramona.

The current leading fire origin story going around is a lost hunter firing a flare gun last night up near Ramona. But that didn't start the Valley Center, Lakeside, Alpine, and/or Chula Vista fires.

Yep, that was one of the few things reported the few times the fire was reported....started by a hunter.

Re: Lakeside
Thank you. If you hear anything more, let me know, please?
To: Kahuna
Hmmm. My husband and I are headed to San Francisco International on Tuesday morning to drive up the coast toward Oregon. Think it's safe?
To: Travis McGee
Did the same hunters get lost in Hemet and Temecula on the same day? I don't own Reynolds Wrap, however I respect the pro's that have fought this problem for years.

My sister is now preparing to evacuate. She lives in El Cajon near Valhalla High School. It's Rancho San Diego, zip code 92019. She lives in a development called Monarch Ridge. The fire has moved into the El Cajon, Crest area, then down to Granite Hills. Is lives just a bit south west of Granite Hills (1-2 miles away).

Any news about Lakeside, near Santee? How bad is it there? The fire in Lakeside is the same fire that blew into Scripps Ranch, Poway, Santee, Ramona, and Alpine. It started near Pine Hills in the vicinity of Julian, dropped down into the San Diego River valley, where it found an enormous amount of fuel, then blew out of there about one this morning when the winds came up. It pretty much devastated Wildcat Canyon east of Lakeside, taking out a lot of structures, then blew across Highway 67 north of Lakeside, skirting town, and got into the foothills above it, Santee, and Poway.
The general direction of the fire has been south and west, which is the traditional route for Santana - driven - brush fires. It's doing pretty much what they always do, taking out structures in those areas that abut brushlands and skipping the rest.
It's pretty spectacular to watch on the tube, but if your friends live in the middle of the urban area of Lakeside, they'll probably come through okay.

Yes. All over the southern part, NorCal is exempt for now.

Thanks.

Funny how if a hunter is suspected, it's mentioned as fact. If eco- or Muslim terrorism is suspected, you hear not word one. Maybe I'm just reading too much between the lines.
