I'd suspect that ELF organization if I were of the conspiracy mind.

Starting to lose KFMB radio, probably too many people logged onto that site now.

Yes - radar at Miramar shut down! Hampering flights into San Diego.

Now that you've admitted your "seasons" let me tell you that I was a little girl in '56 when the fires swept up the canyons on the west side of 163 from Washington Steet on the south all the way to where I-8 (then called US 80) intersects with 163 and then east around the bend by TGIF's.
My dad had just finshed building our new house, --- the fires started during school hours --- Alice Birney was immediately evacuated and I ran crying home. The sky was black that day --- and my mother put me on top of the roof with a hose (LOL) and I remember the water pressure was so slight that only droplets came out.
About ten houses burned to their foundations that day, (ours was not one of them) and for weeks later, many of us would find rattle snakes in our yards.
Yes, I'm getting a little smoke --- and, as you can see, I am ignoring SDG&E's call to shut-off all things electrical save for the "necessary, life-sustaining" appliances ..... of which, my computer is huge necessity. :)

The histrionic doctor in husband's corp. has just telephoned to say he "thinks" they've lost their branch office. Husband told him to "worry about people and their personal non-replacable items, not some GD office building." LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hildy, I'm really concerned about ya-all in the east county. We're convinced the fires are being set, and my neighbors are not "crack pots" --- they're some of the better known persons here in town.

Ordinarily, I can see Qualcom to the east and Mission Bay to the west and I can see neither the last time I checked. I could still see Linda Vista across I-8.

The fires can't reach us, unless some idiot sets one in the canyon below us, but you're advise is dead-bang accurate.
I would only add that the fire departments have requested people to unlock gates leading to back yards. ACCESS is EVERYTHING.

A local girl!! Yes, I know exactly what canyons you're talking about. And, of course, over the hill, Mission Valley was pretty empty then. I was just up the coast from you then - just a half-day ride by wagon. LOL.
Here's a recent column about my elementary school as it was in the fifties. We went to school barefoot until the third grade!
These fires were awfully scary for kids then and they're scary for a lot of folks this time. You and I are too close to the water to be in danger this time, though.
I just hope that this doesn't make it more difficult for you to get to Stater Bros. ;-)

Hey Hildy,
What part of the county/city are you in? La Mesa? I hope so. I can't believe this! Fires everywhere!
