I am going to tell you this and please listen...e-mails are not looked at until the week. Please CALL Fox, CNN, MSNBC, and the Alphabet Soup networks and let them know you are sick of the East Coast bias. Hardball from Wednesday on MSNBC, CNN now showing Your Money, and Fox ping ponging back and forth between Al Rasheed, hollywood couples, and the fires on occassion.
A freaking joke. Disgusting.

Thank you so much for the prayers.
Latest is that the CDF has taken a stand at Hwy 52 which runs from Hwy 15 to the coast. They cannot allow the fire to jump 15 and 52 - too many people - concentrated area - leads directly to Mission Valley - then onto downtown. They cannot allow that to happen.
Tankers have been seen in the skys - hopefully that will help stop. Also - latest weather - winds in some areas have shifted to a more northerly direction - blowing fire back upon itself - fuel is gone - could help put some of the fires out.
We're not leaving yet .. dressed and ready though - and already started gathering a few things and making a mental note of what to take.

Maybe FOX is reading our emails.
Thousands of home threatened ... Brad and Jen's peace talks have had more coverage ... PATHETIC.

This could be the biggest natural disaster of 2003. One has to wonder what the dollar figure will be on these fires. ____________________________________________________________ Well maybe someone is keeping a lid on the story until the stock market opens in Asia. Dollar figures would be important to the Insurance (Prop. & Casualty) industry and the lid is about to explode off the pot.
Insurance Prop. & Casualty Sector.
Looking at the big picture, producing panic is what the media does best and what I am suggesting is a financial angle of this story.
Shorting and/or buying puts on insurance companies with California policyholder exposure may be an option tomorrow. Anyway I will watch this sector and see what happens.
This is national news and the people of that region need all the help they can get from surrounding states. Governor Davis should have call out the National Guard yesterday to help assist and protect the public. Where is ARNOLD? Oh, I hear in Lost Vegas pumping iron with old friends.
My guess the California Fires will be hum-ho national news tonight and in your face panic news tomorrow. I share all of your sentiment with the lack of news coverage about this story.

I think Temecula is safe.

Really weird color for midday.Yeah, I'm on the coast and it's dark and hazy with an orange glow. It's enough to be mood-altering. ;-)

My sister-in-law is in Crest, just east of El Cajon. What's the situation there? There is fire in Alpine, further east of Crest. But I don't believe Crest is in any current danger.

Oh WOW, the KFMB reporter (after seeing the houses with shake rooves were burning more than those with tile rooves) just interviewed a resident who said that he understood that the CCNR rules won't let people upgrade their rooves from shake to tile.
