Just like they also happened to have the best record since May in baseball. The Marlins just became very lucky by playing all those teams with bad pitchers since May. Marlins won nothing. The other team just lost. It was all an accident. Come on. This is ridiculous. Say it with me: Sore Loser!!! Sore Loser!!! Sore Loser!!! LOL

"In fact, next time my Dolphins loose, I will not blame it on the other team but on my phins instead. How bout that???"Bad analogy. The football Fish are hardly considered an NFL elite.
The Marlins are the NFL equivolent of an 9-7 NFL team who eeked by the playoffs on inexplicable fumbles and INTs and injuries to the other team's star players. Yeah, they won, but, did the other teams lose? The Marlins over the Yankee was a soft and unconvincing a "win" as you'll ever see.
Here's a question to some of you:
Did America get beaten by North Vietman, OR, did America lose the war?
To: F16Fighter
Yeah, but still BOTH [Unicorns and the Marlins' Championship] are equally unbelievable.Hmm. Well, I guess that depends on whether or not one is delusional. Millions believe the Marlins won, yet don't believe in unicorns. One cannot attest to every Yankee fans' mindset, however; so, yes, I guess there're those that find both on the same plane.

What lineup are you watching?? Oh, that's right -- the Cub staff was strafed by this rag-tag lineup... I-Rod is a stick. Period. Lowell was still recouping and at about 75%; Pierre is NO stick (against Yankee pitching, anyway); Castillo couldn't hit his way out of a paper bag; And Lee was a free-swinging black hole.... The fact is as two of the "best arms in the game," BOTH Wood AND Prior couldn't hold the anemic Marlin lineup down when it counted. With the money on the line. Now who's "bitter"?? Now youre just being ridiculous.
Is this Jerome from the Bronx?

In fact, next time my Dolphins loose, I will not blame it on the other team but on my phins instead. How bout that??? In this case we have an exception...it can all be blamed on Wannestedt ;^)

No, it is a good analogy. Who cares if they are elite or not. If Fiedler is sacked I can always say it was not the great defense but the stinkin offensive line. If Fiedler throws an interception it was not the cornerback but because of a bad throw. If another team stops Ricky it is not because anything the Defense did but that both Ricky and the Offensive line just stunk. You see, anybody can do the same. Btw, 4-2 is not that bad. They could have been undefeated if they had not lost (other team won) a couple games by a couple of points. The Marlins are not the NFL equivalent of 9-7. The Marlins had the best record since May. They almost had as good a record as the yanks by 9 games only. So it is hardly the equivalent of 9-7. Unconvincing win you say??? Sorry, last time I looked all one needed was to score one more point than your opponent to win. The Marlins are champs because they won when they had to win. Period. Nothing else is asked. The Marlins may become the Angels of 2004 by not even making the playoffs. So what?!?!? The Marlins won the 2003 WS. They did not play in the 03, 04, 05, 06, 08, etc. all together. They only played for the 2003 championship. Period. The Marlins are the 2003 champs and that is all that matters. Masters of the baseball world for 2003. ;-)) Did America get beaten by North Vietnam, OR, did America lose the war? I think both. At the end the North won by getting the results they wanted. The U.S. pull out. At the same time the U.S. lost. I believe they could have won if different tactics had been used. But what mattered is the end result. And, sadly, the North took over the South along with 50,000 dead Americans.

"Is this Jerome from the Bronx?"No, but thanks. I think.
BTW, would you like to challenge the merits any of those claims I made?
To: David1
"No, it is a good analogy. Who cares if they are elite or not."Huh?? Shouldn't this analogy be based upon the respective establishment of excellence, and track record of battle-tested combatants who have at least played 3/4 of the year or survived playoffs rounds?
You can lay blame to various components of your Dolphins team once they've established some sort of consistant trend of winning during the year -- 12 games into the season is enough to know just who's to blame for a particularly bad performance.
"The Marlins are not the NFL equivalent of 9-7. The Marlins had the best record since May. They almost had as good a record as the yanks by 9 games only. So it is hardly the equivalent of 9-7. Unconvincing win you say???"
Yes, totally "unconvinced."
The Fish went 91-71, but finished strong. Yet, there is a reason they only won 91 games. They weren't dominant, and teams underestimated them (including the Giants, Cubs, AND Yanks). On paper they were above average, and on the field they were above average. That happened to be good enough to win the Series because everyone they played, performed below average. So, voila -- The Marlins are World Series winners.
Thanks for your perspective in regards to the Vietnam War.
If America fought the War to win it, we would have easily won. Same in Korea, but whenever a Democrat holds office, they'd rather "hold the line," and waste American blood rather than use overwhelming force and win unequivocally.
Read Ann Coulter's book, 'Treason' if you get the chance -- she elaborates quite well about these disturbing dynamics.
To: F16Fighter
The phins have always had a consistent trend in winning. In fact, they have only had 2 loosing seasons ever in the NFL. They are one of the most winningest teams in the NFL. And, so far, they are 4-2 (5-2 if tonights score keeps on). Not too shabby. Lately, they have collapsed around December. Hope this gets fixed soon. But lets forget the phins for a seconds. Lets take KC instead for this season.
Sorry, we are going to have to disagree for the reason they won 91 games. You think it can happen by accident. That teams underestimated them. Well, I don't think so. They just play too many games for that to happen. I think you seem to think in order for a team to be dominant they have to have batters capable of hitting 60 homers. Sorry, the fish were not built that way. As the guy from ESPN said, the fish were built like teams used to be built and that was with defense. And you know what, it got them the WS for 2003. That is all I care about. They won when they were asked to and that is all one can ask of a team. Winning ugly is still winning. ;-)) Heck, just the fact they even made the wild card was enough for me. I believe you are nuts and being a sore loser. ;-)) But that is ok because I am sure you think that I am the one that is nuts. That's fine with me as long as the fish have the 2003 WS. LOL Yeah FISH!!!! 2003 Champs!!!! ( I know you hate that LOL)
Thank you for your recommendation of Treason. I will definitely get it soon. I love Coulter.

How I love this time of year. It would not be nearly as enjoyable if there were no Yankee fans throwing tantrums worse than a spoiled five year old. The joy would not be the same if George did not start a purge to express his disdain for (what in his mind is) Yankee incompetence on the field of battle.
To have seen the Yankees beaten on the playing field is satisfying, to have Yankee fans disgrace themselves as a result, and to have George give vent to his rage via another purge, is sweeter than honey on the tongue.
Baseball fan - "Congratulations to your Yankees, an honorable team that played competitively every inning of the World Series"
Yankee fan - the Yankees played like "zombies"
Baseball fan - "Not at all, they demonstrated they were a dangerous team that deserved to be in the World Series."
Yankee fan - The Yankees were as dangerous as a "toothless Dead Horse"
Baseball fan - (thinking - hmmm, "toothless" dead horse. Theoretically, I guess that would be less dangerous than just a plain old dead horse). "Not at all, they came up against young, hot pitching. These things sometimes happen in baseball."
Yankee fan - "Yankee hitting couldn't have even hit Jeff Weaver."
Baseball fan - "The Yankees would have beaten any other team in baseball."
Yankee fan - "The Detroit Tigers would have been 50/50 to have beaten the Yanks."
Baseball fan - "I am certain that no other team would have been able to defeat the Yankees."
Yankee fan - "The Mets could have beat them."
Baseball fan - "Now you have definitely gone too far."
Yankee fan - " The Marlins beat up a hollow, spent, bloated stinking corpse of a team.
Baseball fan - "I do not wish to quarrel with you. I believe baseball tradition dictates that we congratulate the winning team, and end our differences with the opponent. I will argue with you no longer, thus I'll agree that the Yankees are a "hollow, spent, bloated stinking corpse of a team."

The dynasty is dead
The incredible arrogance of the Snankees shows the most when they lose.
They believe a successful season means winning the World Series. If they finish second they see it as a losing season. To expect to win the World Series in March shows how out of touch they are and how arrogant they are.
Everyone knows that it takes more than a few lucky breaks to win it all.

my house. They're done toying with you. You will now personally experince the grave yard known as Yankee Stadium. Yes, the New York Yankees "storied history" commands it.
"Beckett?? He hasn't beaten the Yanks, has he? In fact he hasn't beat anybody in the entire playoffs BUT the Cubs. McKeon has panicked. With three days rest he won't be able to take down the Bronx Bombers, and neither will Pavano. They won't have enough.
"Aaah...Coming back like this will be so gratifying for me. Soooo agonizing for you. You see -- we Yankees Fans have been through the drill before. We know what the script is. The Yanks will win the World Series because it is theirs."

I was glad to see the Marlins win, if only because I hate the stinking rotten Yankees with every fiber of my being.
We now return to my regularly scheduled, lifelong support of the Red Sox. Wait until next year! Pitchers and catchers report in 62 days.
