No, it is a good analogy. Who cares if they are elite or not. If Fiedler is sacked I can always say it was not the great defense but the stinkin offensive line. If Fiedler throws an interception it was not the cornerback but because of a bad throw. If another team stops Ricky it is not because anything the Defense did but that both Ricky and the Offensive line just stunk. You see, anybody can do the same. Btw, 4-2 is not that bad. They could have been undefeated if they had not lost (other team won) a couple games by a couple of points. The Marlins are not the NFL equivalent of 9-7. The Marlins had the best record since May. They almost had as good a record as the yanks by 9 games only. So it is hardly the equivalent of 9-7. Unconvincing win you say??? Sorry, last time I looked all one needed was to score one more point than your opponent to win. The Marlins are champs because they won when they had to win. Period. Nothing else is asked. The Marlins may become the Angels of 2004 by not even making the playoffs. So what?!?!? The Marlins won the 2003 WS. They did not play in the 03, 04, 05, 06, 08, etc. all together. They only played for the 2003 championship. Period. The Marlins are the 2003 champs and that is all that matters. Masters of the baseball world for 2003. ;-)) Did America get beaten by North Vietnam, OR, did America lose the war? I think both. At the end the North won by getting the results they wanted. The U.S. pull out. At the same time the U.S. lost. I believe they could have won if different tactics had been used. But what mattered is the end result. And, sadly, the North took over the South along with 50,000 dead Americans.

"No, it is a good analogy. Who cares if they are elite or not."

Huh?? Shouldn't this analogy be based upon the respective establishment of excellence, and track record of battle-tested combatants who have at least played 3/4 of the year or survived playoffs rounds?

You can lay blame to various components of your Dolphins team once they've established some sort of consistant trend of winning during the year -- 12 games into the season is enough to know just who's to blame for a particularly bad performance.

"The Marlins are not the NFL equivalent of 9-7. The Marlins had the best record since May. They almost had as good a record as the yanks by 9 games only. So it is hardly the equivalent of 9-7. Unconvincing win you say???"

Yes, totally "unconvinced."

The Fish went 91-71, but finished strong. Yet, there is a reason they only won 91 games. They weren't dominant, and teams underestimated them (including the Giants, Cubs, AND Yanks). On paper they were above average, and on the field they were above average. That happened to be good enough to win the Series because everyone they played, performed below average. So, voila -- The Marlins are World Series winners.

Thanks for your perspective in regards to the Vietnam War.

If America fought the War to win it, we would have easily won. Same in Korea, but whenever a Democrat holds office, they'd rather "hold the line," and waste American blood rather than use overwhelming force and win unequivocally.

Read Ann Coulter's book, 'Treason' if you get the chance -- she elaborates quite well about these disturbing dynamics.
