"If it's laying out on the side of the road, it's not theirs, and it should be turned in,'' said CHP spokesman Cliff Kroeger. Yeah, that might happen.

Looks like the friendly BoA CSR type.

Jeez, what a dummie. Still, I'd gladly start a collection to replace his nest egg, if I knew where to send it.

Yea this sounds like a real story......... more likely he's hoping some idiots will donate to help his poor mommy get new furniture.......
And along a similar vein....... we were going to buy a new house and uh, my, uh,this uh, stray cat got sick, and uh, we had to spend all the down payment money uh, on the uh, cat and uh, well we were wondering if anyone wanted to, uh, send us money since we had, uh, been so generous with the stupid cat.......

I'm willing to cut the guy a little slack. It's very easy to forget to zip a pocket. He made an honest (and quite common) mistake.
Just last night I dropped my driver's licence out of my pocket at the checkout line - had to go back to the store when I noticed it was missing - luckily for me, it had been turned in. Maybe I should bite the bullet and start carrying a purse - though I don't think that's an option for this guy.
Besides, I think it's nice that he was going to buy furniture for his mom.

Creative cover story. Probably only need a few hundred to explain thousands missing.

If someone can set up a fundraiser for the guy, I'd chip in a bit.

Riiiiiight, he pulled out $7000 cash to give to his poor old Moms for -sniff- new furniture. Gee, what could he really have been going to buy with that cash?

Recently laid off from a Bank of America. Resident of Walnut Creek, but has a bank account in Concord. Wonder why he was laid off? Things don't seem to fit right.

Regardless of the circumstances the money should be returned.
Better on his conscience than mine.

His mother obviously never taught her son to be careful with his cash. I'll never forget a lesson my mother taught me when I was a young paperboy. I dropped a twenty-dollar-bill while collecting during a snowstorm. I had shoved it into my pocket and it fell out. When I noticed the missing money at home, my mother said we are going to go look for it, over my protests. I just wanted to stay warm. We found it on top of a snowdrift. Her lesson was money is valuable, and to watch out for it.

Dang, another litterbug!
Isn't the fine for littering $1000?

Good Evening All-
Tell me that if YOU were carrying that wad of cash you wouldn't be checking your pocket every, oh, two seconds? If it were me, that money would be zipped-up in a fanny-pack spun to the front and jammed safely between my crotch and the gas tank! In the words of Bugs Bunny: "What a MAROON!"
