The White House has issued President Bush's annual greeting to Muslims around the world who will observe the holy month of Ramadan.
In his message, President Bush says Islam is a peaceful religion that has helped shape the character of the United States, and has made great contributions to the world.
Mr. Bush said Americans cherish the freedom to worship and, he said, "we remain committed to welcoming individuals of all religions."
During Ramadan, President Bush said Muslims fast, pray, contemplate and renew their commitment to lead lives of honesty, integrity and compassion.

You're wasting your time arguing with this bunch. They're confusing assertions made by professional commentators who compete for 'face time' with our long-term strategic requirements.
It's no different from separating Hitler/Nazis from the Germans and Tojo/military from the Japanese. Could you imagine being at war with 1/3 of the world if Islam was the enemy? LOL, right.
Much better to characterize extremists as those who do not really abide by the tenets of Islam; this way we not only have allies, but we also isolate our enemy down to a much more manageable number (thousands/millions(?) vs. billions.)

You have a grasp of the obvious as far as the Constitution is concerned. I hope you are not implying that I have advocated persecuting Muslims. I have not.
To: CWOJackson
Leap right to the ad hominem attack eh?
You have my hood picked out for me already sport?
Guess lack of real arguments will do that to you.

Mullah Bush's comments must warm the hearts of the loved ones killed on 9-11, and not to mention the KIA's families in the war on terror.

Thanks, and yes I'm done with them.
It's a shame that brave young Muslim American's in the uniform of THEIR nation are ready to sacrifice themselves for the likes of these.

"These are the same kind of people who would don white hoods and burn crosses outside of people's homes at night. They aren't worth the dust on a single Muslim soldier's boots."Once again the apologists true color shows. Blame it all on Cross burning fanatics, never mind that Muslims killed 3000 of our people on 9/11/01 or that on a daily basis they spout ant-Jewish/American nonsense. Nope, in your world Muslims are just the cats meow and us lowly Christians are just cross burning hypocrites, thankfully us common folk know about your type.

Have former Presidents issued Ramadan greetings? I get it now. Attack America, get greetings from the POTUS.

What depresses me about this whole Muslim/Islam religion of peace BS is that we NOW have ANOTHER VICTIM group in the United States another minority group that will get preferential treatment and glowing words heaped upon them by our politicians as they pander to a NEW constituency they hope to GAIN.
Horrible to think that this NEW group is being pandered to BECAUSE of the killing of 3000 innocents and the disruption of our entire nation's economy. PC run amok!!

Exactly, but remember it is unpatriotic to many around here to be critical of the President, even if you do support him in the main, and to the point of even voting for him next year. There are many here these days that take it as almost a sacrilige to be critical of the "man" while still supporting him over any other candidats available.
I am with you. Since day one (911) I have accepted that being the President of the whole United States he has to be a bit circumspect in his statements. But I think he has gone a bit overboard in this "Religion of Peace" crapola and now to the great contributions they have made to America? Give me a break.

You are flawed.Well, being a real-life flesh and blood human being, I guess I'd have to plead guilty to that.
But that is not an argument for your dubious position, on which you have just lost all credibility. If you prefer to make insulting personal remarks instead of reasoned arguments, perhaps you would be more comfortable over at DU.

Don't waste your time arguing with those who want the President to declare a holy war on Islam. We have declared a war on terrorism. And from whence do 99% of the terrorist acts all over the planet spring? Ugly truth - but it's Islam. Some of us are just little sick and tired of the PC charade. Innocent lives are at stake here.

Taken together with Bush's spineless failure to back Judge Moore and General Boykin, one can only conclude that:
1) Bush feels he does not need the votes of Christians, and/or
2) Bush's grasp of the implications of "being a Christian" (as he is alleged to be) is tenuous at best, and/or
3) He is completely under the spell of the (irreligious) Karl Rove, whose political advise would tend to support points one and two above
So what? So, Bush is spineless in admitting that the War on Terror does indeed have a Christian v. Islamist dimension and/or just plain stupid and/or a Christian with almost no spiritual maturity or discernment -- or else he is no Christian at all.

The United States has a message for the world, and that message is not Islam.

"Don't waste your time arguing with those who want the President to declare a holy war on Islam.I don't know about the holy war thing, but I do know Islam is our enemy and to come out and say it's the best thing since sliced bread or that it has contributed in a meaningful way to the USA, is at best absurd and at worst outright lying.
If he didn't want to inflame the Muslims in the hope that it would make us more able to deal with Islam in the future thats one thing, but don't try and tell us Islam is peaceful and good, there are a few million people(Dead) that would tell you otherwise if they could.
