US Rep. Pelosi says Wal-Mart arrests "terrorizing"

Reuters, 10.24.03, 6:15 PM ET

MEXICO CITY, Oct 24 (Reuters) - U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said on Friday police raids on dozens of U.S. Wal-Mart stores in the search for illegal immigrants this week amounted to "terrorizing" workers.

"It instills a great deal of fear in people who are only trying to earn a living and put food on the table for their family," Pelosi, a California Democrat, told reporters on a Congressional visit to Mexico.

Hundreds of workers at Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (nyse: WMT - news - people) locations across the United States were arrested on immigration charges on Thursday in an investigation into contractor cleaning crews.

"We think there might be a better way to go about this because the fact is that it is against the law for the employer to hire these people so there should be more focus on the employer and less in these terrorizing raids," Pelosi said.

She was speaking after meeting Mexican President Vicente Fox for talks on immigration and border security.

Pelosi said the Wal-Mart raids showed the need to legalize undocumented workers in parts of the economy other than just the agricultural sector.

Several bills to grant legal status to illegal immigrants working in U.S. agriculture are before Congress, including the Berman-Cannon bill which would let an estimated 500,000 illegal immigrants earn legal residency.

Are Filipino women hot?

In a word, yes. I saw so many super hot women, it is a good thing that my wife to be is one of the very most beautiful females I have ever seen, or I might have been tempted to stray, but yes, the women are extremely hot and sexy.

Illegal aliens are wrecking this nation worse than bin Laden can IMHO

No question about it, but Patty Murray's statement was more treasonous than Pelosi's, especially considering the time (of war) that it was said.

I will say this also, that the women are as hot as anywhere, but they are not easy. You can not go up to them and introduce yourself. They will ignore you, and if they don't, they are loose. You must be introduced by a friend who knows them. This is the proper way to meet these hot Filipina women.

Well, another poster confirmed that in Arkansas Hillary was on the board of directors. If she still has monetary ties to Wal-Mart, she probably picked up the phone and Pelosi said "Yes Ma'am" and started motor mouthing ...

Great article. Sam Walton was astute enough to pay tribute to King Willie or his wife, Bill Gates wasn't.

Despite the lack of knowledge by the Union people of Hillary's ties to Wal-Mart, it has been heartening to hear lately that more and more union workers are ignoring the wishes of their leaders and are voting Republican.

You're probably right. Although if I owned a business like Wal-Mart that the Democrats hated, I would bribe - er - donate heavily to the Democrats to keep them off my back.

I will make a fearless prediction here. The Bush administration will not come to the aid of the illegals who were arrested. They can score a LOT more points by emphasizing that illegal aliens should not have jobs that should go to unemployed American citizens.

What part of "they're NOT supposed to be here in the first place" do you NOT understand, you stupid &#$!*!

If I recall correctly, you took an oath to support the laws of THIS country... You are in violation of that oath! GET OUT OF THE CONGRESS!!!

U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said on Friday police raids on dozens of U.S. Wal-Mart stores in the search for illegal immigrants this week amounted to "terrorizing" workers.

If Ms. Pelosi could be sent back in time and place to the 110th floor of the World Trade Center North Tower at 9:02 am EDT on September 11, 2001, she might have a better understanding of how outlandishly inappropriate the word 'terrorizing' is in this context.

Only out of the mouth of Pelosi......the gov't finally ENFORCES some laws, and Pelosi claims the LAWBREAKERS have been terrorized.

Now we'll have Fox demanding that US officials quit 'terrorizing' his mexicans.

It's a pretty sad statement on the likes of a Party who puts somebody like Pelosi in office as Minority Leader.
