Police Chief Reportedly Hits Wife 'Upside Head'
Kostura Spends Two Days In Jail
POSTED: 8:35 a.m. EDT October 22, 2003 UPDATED: 8:43 a.m. EDT October 22, 2003
Story by NewsNet 5
CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio -- The Orange Village police chief spent two nights in jail after reportedly hitting his wife during an argument.
The argument Saturday reportedly was over whether he should drink beer or finish painting the house.
Chief Christopher Kostura, 45, denied hitting his wife, but she told officials he hit her "upside the head."
Kostura said he drank three beers and his wife got upset that he wasn't painting. His blood alcohol level was .077 percent.
He pleaded not guilty to domestic violence in court Monday. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 4. Kostura was placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation.

...drink beer or finish painting the house. Yep, that's a conundrum.

"Kostura said he drank three beers and his wife got upset that he wasn't painting. His blood alcohol level was .077 percent."
But can't you drink 4 beers in an hour and still be lower than .08? That fourth beer will only increase the bac to .079.....
In addition, don't they have to find bruises or other pieces of evidence before jailing someone?

Never really saw the two as mutually exclusive

The funny part is that although we cannot describe it, all Texans know exactly what kind of smack we get when someone goes upside our head.

From the small amount of house-painting in which I have participated, I have found beer a necessity.

He really must have been in a drunken rage to be so chagrined at his wife.

What possible justification did they have for testing his blood alcohol level in the first place?

Is "hitting offside the head" = "b*tch slapping"

He really must have been in a drunken rage to be so chagrined at his wife. "Why did you hit your wife?"
"Waal, I dropped a beer can on muh foot, and chagrined at me..."

I notice that his wife didn't bail him out of jail, but left him there for two days.
Any guesses how much longer this marriage will last?

Good question. What does his BAC have to do with anything?

That puts way to much power in the hands of one over the other. Imagine, if this is true, all she has to do in the future is say, "I'll report you for hitting me upside the head and you can spend a couple more days in jail, or you can paint the porch!"
Thank God I am still single and don't have to deal with this stuff. I can drink beer, paint or anything I want on my own schedule.

Yes and if you had children and the state perceives some possible danger to them they can remove them fom the home......while you cool your heels waiting for "due process"...
