DaimlerChrysler reported a sharper-than-expected drop in profits on October 21, 2003, with problems at its ailing U.S. unit threatening its earnings outlook and leading to a downgrade of the German automaker's credit rating. The world's fifth-biggest carmaker, battling to return its Chrysler unit to long-term profits, posted a third quarter operating profit of $1.46 billion, a 19 percent drop from a year ago and below analysts' expectations. Chrysler is banking on new products, including its new Dodge Durango sports utility vehicle(SUV) and the Pacifica, a minivan-SUV crossover which got off to a slow start earlier this year. It is launching 25 new vehicles in the next 36 months. The Dodge Durango Hemi RT concept SUV is seen January 5 at the Detroit Auto Show. Yes, I love my car, and it is silver. (A 2003, fully loaded with everything - integrated GPS, hands-free cellular, all that.)

What I miss, though, is that I never ONCE had my Z-3 in the shop for anything other than an oil change (and I loved that maintenance indicator system). My Audi has probably been in five times since I got it last winter. Arrrrrgh!

The electrical system went nutty (faulty fan module) and stranded me, my radio/CD player - which I must admit kicks the hiney of the one in my BMW (I'm a musician and there is just no comparison...Audi's Bose system kills that thing) - died once...but thankfully, service is good and the dealer I bought it from goes way above and beyond to make it easy for me. He's delivered loaners to me, 200 miles roundtrip for him, every time it's needed service unless I was headed up his way anyway.

Anyway!! Enjoy your BMW!!! They are GREAT cars. If they had kept the Z-3 body style, I would probably be driving a dark grey one now...best car I ever had, in terms of durability, reliability - and it was a joy to drive!

Yeah, the insurance was pretty steep but I had the cash. Had been making money since I was ten doing a variety of things so I was prepared. More of a shame that the car ended up in the hands of someone who didn't respect and appreciate it. Seeing it in the junk yard was a real downer. I respect her making the decision she did...didn't agree but I understand. Anyway, how was she to know that I would buy an old basketcase Sportster. That was punishment enough for her. Still have the Sporty and the GTO in my future may not be a Judge (rather pricey now)but the time will come when I give mom a ride in "her old car".

Nice Beemer, BTW. Much better lines than the previous model. Saw one the other day piloted by a striking young woman. Hair flowing in the breeze....wanted to give chase but my road tank is no match for the speed and handling. Enjoy it.

Mine is Titanium silver. I first saw it with the sun bouncing off the angles and it reminded me of a finely cut diamond.

In the 9 months that I've had it, it's been in the shop once, for one hour. My cupholder broke. ;o)

That's what I love about Beemers...ya' can't break 'em.

Wow! You were an industrious youngster. It sounds as if you were very responsible. It's really too bad you didn't get the car, expecially since it ended up wrapped around a tree a short time later. What a waste. But, it could be one of the highlights of your life is in your future...giving your mom a ride in "her old car." ;o)

My biggest regret is that my goat was traded for a station wagon. Ack! How sick is that! I truly wish I still had it.

I really enjoy my car. I'm a good girl in town. But, I live in the country, off a winding two lane road. It's remote enough that LE is never around. When I hit the city limits, heading out of town, I'm in heaven...lol.

Goat for a grocery-getter? Well, that does make you cringe but I've heard worse. Knew a girl who sold off a 429 '70 Torino GT to buy a Dodge Caravan...the kind with the contact-paper wood grain on the sides. She didn't tell any of her friends about it until the deal was done because she knew a few of us would have been fighting over the car. She didn't count on a few of us agreeing that she was nuts (and not in a good way).

Y'know, I gotta tell you I'm a bit disappointed, since given the title of this thread I was hoping for skin-care tips and what conditioner to use on what's left of my hair.

If this car was beaten ten thousand times with an ugly stick, it would be an improvement.
