I'm a bit confused. News everywhere is reporting that they have started fluids last night. (which makes sense, being an RN I know they wouldn't start feeding food yet, which would shock her system.) Why are they reporting this if it is not so?

This Tom Anderson must not think that there is much support for Terri in Pinellas Co., in that the county elected George W. Greer in 1998. However, I think Bush's actions may have shifted public opinion there. I think it is possible that Greer could be voted down next year. In fact, Greer might decided to leave the bench as quietly as possible after next year. George W. Greer, a proud and vain man, has been humiliated and exposed as a fraud, but he will continue to have his loyal defenders. I think Greer will try somehow to get the state law just passed declared unconstitutional.
It is telling too that Anderson was the ONLY House Republican to vote against this bill.

"Effective immediately What is it about "effective immediately" that these people not understand?"
Have you ever been in a hospital. "May I please have a bedpan?" "I'll get it for you right away." Two hours later the patient is still waiting to relieve a ready to burst bladder. "I really need my next dose of tylenol." "You will have it in just a minute."...as the patient waits yet another hour since requesting the tylenol the hour before. How about, "You will be going down to x-ray in few minutes." Four hours later the patient is still waiting in the wheelchair to be taken down. I'm convinced that hospitals think they are God and therefore live by God's concept of time. (To God a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day.)
With this practice already firmly in place, how easy it would be for them to claim they are carrying out the order immediately but still stall quite a long time.

Interesting. It's often said that you can tell alot about an issue by just looking at who is "for it", and who is "against it".
You would think that NOW and the ACLU would be in front of the cameras night and day supporting this womyn, while decrying the abusive treatment given by her "husband".
I guess it goes to show the depths the "right to death" crowd will go. It's obvious then (IMHO) that DEATH trumps all other causes.
It makes me wonder what forces drive the political left.

Praise God
People, a new law has been made, Terri's Law.!
This is a great thing and while there are still battles to be fought here, we on the side of human life and it's great value, have really recieved an answer from the Author of Life through our rulers and gov. authorities over us. While Terri has yet many needs, and we will continue to pray for those, the first, and most important battle, was won. God is on our side. I am praying that a new and Godly guardian will be placed over Terri, rehab will be started after her body recovers from damage of 6 days of starvation, investigations will be done to prove husband's guilt and Terris parents will finally and permanently be given their precious daughter back. I pray Terri will one day be able to clearly communicate "All along, I wanted to live!" Heartfelt thanks also for all you freepers on the side of life. Even though there is yet battles ahead, I am smiling because this law sent a clear message.

Why are they reporting this if it is not so? Beats me, I'm confused too. Terri's site only says that she will be "receiving proper attention immediately" but they really don't say if she actually HAS begun to get fluids.

This morning on a 540 WFLA in Orlando, A local talk show host was reporting that Michael Schiavo has forbidden Terri's family from seeing Terri at all and they are not allowed to get any medical updates. Said it was AP breaking news story but i cant find anything, maybe some other freeper's can verify.
To: Ferret Fawcet
I'm assuming they transported her last night to the ICU, started IV fluids with electrolytes, brought her glucose levels under control, ran some blood labs to get a picture of how much damage was done to liver and kidneys, and will start antibiotics if needed, as well as any other medications to get her body prepared to accept food again. They probably have her on a heart monitor and are watching her heart very closely, as she may have such an electrolyte imbalance (potassium and salt) that her heart may be effected too. As soon as she is rehydrated, which may take quite a few days, they may start feeding her, but with rehydration, they can give her nutrition through the IV in the form of minerals ect. Poor Terri. This girl has been through so much I cannot fathom it. I would be honored to be her nurse. (thought about flying down there but couldn't) The above comments are my opinion only. I am a long term care/ med surg nurse, not an ICU nurse.

"What would you have me do, Redneck? The missus is urging me to adopt a kinder and gentler tone these days. Next time should I verbally smack her? "
How about you listening to your missus and stop trying to force your beliefs onto everyone else regarding how a Christian is supposed to act? It's not your place to judge who is a Christian and who is not.

I would bet you that if they need money, those who run terrisfight.org will set up a fund. I remember someone saying her parents had offered Michael a half million to just let them have her so they may be very well off and not need it. We'll wait a few weeks and see what comes up on terrisfight.org.

I just saw Terris brother on CNN and that's what he said.

If you can find the law itself, that deserves its own thread and that should be sent to Jeb Bush, John Ashcroft, et al! Can anyone find the law itself? That has BIG implications.

The bad news for the "loving husband" is that now everyone is listening to what he's doing. It's being reported by all the news sources, not just dealt with within the family. He is going to be (or already is) thought of as the biggest jerk alive.

Please let me vent....
In all my years of nursing, I have never seen a guardian behave in the manner that Michael Schiavo is behaving. If I were the nurse there, I would *itch him out. I would firmly tell him, I don't know what power you think you have, but your powers as guardian are more limited than you think. It is evident to me as well as many here, that your motives are not in Terris best interest, and we don't like that. My lawful duty as an RN by the state of Ne. (or Florida if I were there) is to see that I perform to my upmost my duties to enhance and ensure life care and wholeness to my patients. If you stand in my way, I will report you to the abuse hotline, my superiors, and the law. I have rights too Mr. Schiavo, and they are protected. Try to remove me from caring for her and I will go straight to the press and report everything I think you are and what you're trying to do. You really really suck, bad.

Glenn beck has schindler family live.
One of them thanked Glenn for his always being there fighting for Terri...Glenn breaks up on mike as he mentions that he used to be against Terri, used to think she was a veggie.
On another note, I emailed WGST Atlanta's Bill Caiaccio yesterday when he referred to Terri as "comatose" in a news report. He responded this morning apologizing for the error, and he is not using the word "comatose" in today's news reports. If you want good top-and-bottom of the hour news, go to wgst.com and listen to the live stream.
