Jeb Bush Detractors can leave their apologies here.
Posted on 10/21/2003 2:47:00 PM PDT by Pukin Dog
If the moderators will allow this thread, I would like to hear from those with courage enough to admit their mistakes in attacking Governor Jeb Bush, "suggesting that blood would be on his hands", calling him a murderer and worse with no evidence to back up their assaults.
While today is a great day, I would like to know how many people are willing to stand up and admit their wrongs?
Some may think it unnecessary, but I think a pound of flesh is in order, in a single place were we can all see and read about it. Please remove if this is out of bounds, but in all the congradulatory threads, I dont see too many folks willing to suck it up.

Hospice and Morton Plant Hospital both refused to hydrate her claiming the law passed today is unconstitutional and therefore, they are afraid of being sued. How can a hospice and a hospital decide what's constitutional and what's not?
Seems to me they're obligated to follow a governor's order (unless it's a heinous Nazi-like order), whether they think it's constitutional or not -- and let the legislative, executive and judical branches has it out.
Let a woman starve to death because they're afraid of being sued?!?! Pathetic.
The Schindlers need to request a decent Catholic hospital, if one exists in their area.

I understand what you are saying. Perhaps I am not the one you are looking for, I have been called names and accused of doing horrible things. I am trying to set the record straight where I can.
I think some people got carried away on both sides of the issue. I don't think that is any reason to run them off of Freerepublic though. ( Unless , of course it comes from Jim. It is his website and if he were to say that I would accept it.) I just think we can still befriend those with whom we have disagreed re: who can make the call for Terri's life .

He COULD NOT make a decision on his own. You're absolutely correct. Gov. Bush needed the Legislative Branch of the government behind him---this is the branch that speaks directly for the people and passes the laws.
The Executive branch (the governor) cannot act on its own to overturn a judicial decision because it cannot pass law.

FWIW: Just heard Speaker of the House Johnny Byrd say he called Jeb last Friday and told him that they needed to do something. Thank God someone did.

Posts like 181 are the kind of people this was aimed at. As you can see, rational thought is not a force at play here.

As I've observed, some folks here do not wish to live in a free republic.
They wish to be governed by a man on horseback who will make the trains run on time.

I started sending faxes as soon as I read your post, Kevin. Frankly, had I been in Florida at the Hospice or Hospital when Jeb's Eo came through, as a citizen I would have been arrested before I would have allowed them to get away with ignoring the order and caring for Terri. At this point, getting arrested for demanding action that is now certainly legal would be the least of my worries!

whoever you are---you are a jackass. if jeb called you today asking for you to work for him you would go in a heart beat and take the 6 figure he offered. you are a petty little person who will never be anything meaningful. YOU are the clinton wannabe---not jeb.

I understand your point. And you know that the afore mentioned post in no way reflects my beliefs, although I think the person has a right to those beliefs themselves. I wish that person would see things my way, but he and I disagree fundementaly, so that will never happen. I don't know if they need to be run off.. that is not for me to decide. ( Although I did try and run off a woman who wanted there to be a new posting rule that no one could use the word Nazi, I was having a bad day that day)

i was glad we had a civil discussion. In fact, I think we advanced the investigation and development of ideas into what was possible better than at any other issue I can remember.
