No Marriage Licenses Until Justice for Gays

Exeter minister won’t issue marriage licenses until justice is done for gays

By TERRY DATE

Democrat (Communist) Staff Writer

Pastor Kendra Ford

EXETER — The minister at the First Unitarian Society of Exeter will not sign marriage licenses for heterosexual couples until the law allows her to do likewise for same-sex unions.

Other Exeter clergy do not necessarily share Pastor Kendra Ford’s belief.

Ford, one of about two dozen Unitarian Universalist ministers who have taken this pledge, said in an interview last week that her decision was based on her sense of fairness and justice.

She came to it after talking to other ministers, and learning from same sex couples about the difficulties that arise when their relationships are invisible in a legal sense.

For instance, it can be difficult to pick up a partner’s child at school, or to visit a partner in an emergency room, she said.

These and other difficulties "can diminish the fullness of their relationship," she said.

"If we want to say that love is the fundamental element of marriage, then the gender of the people involved is not as important as the depth of the love," Ford said.

The minister at Faith Lutheran Church, located next to Ford’s church, said in an interview Sunday he supports the equal rights the Constitution guarantees to all citizens, but he doesn’t believe the law should sanction gay and lesbian couples.

"Our (Lutheran) theology doesn’t support the legalization of gay marriages," said Rev. Steven Bartell, who added that his personal philosophy does not support these marriages, either.

Regarding those who support same-sex marriage, Bartell said, "They are entitled to their beliefs, and I would expect them to be true to those beliefs."

Up the street at the First Baptist Church, Rev. Jamie Moynihan said that she does not think the law should sanction gay marriage. Ultimately, though, it wouldn’t be an issue for her because her understanding of scripture would not allow for her to conduct such a ceremony.

Ford will continue to officiate marriage ceremonies for any couple that wants to make a life-long commitment.

However, Ford announced her decision to stop signing the licenses in a sermon at her church earlier this month, and the people have supported her, though her stance does not necessarily reflect their views.

"In the Unitarian Universalist tradition, ministers speak for themselves not for the membership," said Ford, who also stated that historically the church’s ministers have taken a stance on issues of conscience.

Ford said she hopes her action will lead to further discussion on the topic, to people becoming more aware of their privileges, and the need for others to have the rights and freedoms they have. </P.

In addition, she doesn’t intend her action to prevent anyone from getting legal recognition of marriage. Nor is she asking churches that have problems with gay and lesbian marriages to stop signing marriage licenses.

Simply put, she wants to act upon her belief.

Communist Goals #26 and #27

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion.

"These and other difficulties "can diminish the fullness of their relationship," she said."

Why does this sound obscene?

After all, since there is not such thing as sin, promoting heterosexual promiscuity is a perfectly legitimate way of pressing for homosexual marriage.

"The minister at the First Unitarian Society of Exeter will not sign marriage licenses for heterosexual couples until the law allows her to do likewise for same-sex unions."

This very bizarre "church" has been promoting homosexuality in our town for ages. They even host community homosexual sessions designed to foster a broader understanding and embracing of this debauchery of human sexuality.

Unitarians are Moonies, aren't they?

Perhaps if she's tempted with 10,000 couples, she'll give in and perform another mass wedding!

Uhh...No. They have been around for much longer.

Maybe you are thinking of "Unification".

INTREP

1. "She" is disqualified as a pastor on Scriptural grounds
2. "She" is not a "Christian" because her denomination does not acknowledge the diety of Christ.
3. Any heterosexual couple that sought a marriage ceremony in that church ought to have their heads examined for wanting a wedding in an apostate organization (I won't call it a "church."

I'm really fond of my sheep. Why should I be prohibited from marrying her? It's discrimination I tell you. Sheep sodomists of the world unite!

All religion is corrupted at some level simply because it is run by man. A personal relationship with Jusus Christ as Lord and Savior leaves no room for outside corruption or influence.
All of these religions will end up on the trash heap of history, put there by the only God with authority.
Come quickly Lord. Amen.

What a bunch of kooks. On the National Day of Prayer after September 11th, I stopped into the first church I found at the time, since I work on the road. It happened to be a UU church, and i was amazed at the breadth and lack of depth of their beliefs. I know that God doesn't care where you are when you pray to Him, but it still was strange to be there.

To paraphrase they guy on Prairie Home Companion, Unitarianism "is like fishing, except you don't know what you're fishing for, and you don't have any bait."

the First Unitarian Society of Exeter

Is this a real religion or one of those match-pack religions? Fill out the match pack and send $12.95 and you too can be an ordained minister. Add $3.00 for framed immitation parchment.

It's a death spiral, Bill. Liberals flee to southern NH from Mass. taxes. Then they proceed to throw a wobbler when they discover that there is no all-day pre-kindergarten and precious Ashley or Garrick will have to go to paid day-care. Oh, the humanity!

Then they seek out like minded souls (not that they, being good Democrats, actually believe in souls... instead they join some Godless mock-church like this Unitarian example with its bull-dyke imitation minister) and they stand one of their number for office on the "its for the Children" platform... then their taxes go up again, so like good Democrats, they look for ways to cheat.

Still, hearing the voice of Satan speaking from a Unitarian Universalist (our creed: "we believe in everything and nothing") pulpit is nothing new.

I moved to NH because I wanted to be alone away from the Aholes that were dictating my, or attempting to, my life. I have a seriously ill daughter who needs time and love to lead a semblance of a life.

She is shocked that those things that she expected as a child, free bus rides to school, and free extra cricular activites don't exisit up here, the quality of education is higher, there are some trades that are worth it.
