Totenberg - NPR's Hate Monger
Media Research Center ^ | October 20, 2003 | MRC

Posted on 10/20/2003 11:36:58 AM PDT by Reagan Disciple

Eight years after NPR’s Nina Totenberg, on Inside Washington, wished death upon Senator Jesse Helms (“If there is retributive justice, he’ll get AIDS from a transfusion, or one of his grandchildren will get it"), on the same show over the weekend she seemingly desired to hasten the death of Army General Jerry Boykin for having supposedly expressed the view that the war on terrorism “is a Christian crusade against Muslims.” Totenberg hatefully advocated: “I hope he’s not long for this world.”

When the other panelists were taken aback by her wish (“You putting a hit out on this guy or what?” and, “What is this, the Sopranos?”), she quickly backtracked: “In his job, in his job, in his job, please, please, in his job.”

The relevant portion of the October 18 Inside Washington, a show produced at Washington, DC’s Gannett-owned WUSA-TV and shown nationally on PBS stations:

Nina Totenberg of National Public Radio: “Now they’ve got this guy who’s head of the intelligence section in the Defense Department who’s being quoted as telling various groups, while he’s in uniform, that this is a Christian crusade against Muslims. I mean this is terrible, this is seriously bad stuff.”

Colbert King, Washington Post editorial writer: “The other thing about Boykin, he got it wrong. He said God put George Bush in the White House. The Supreme Court did it.” Totenberg: “The Supreme Court put George Bush in the White House.” Charles Krauthammer, syndicated columnist, joked: “It was 5,000 yentas in Palm Beach who couldn’t read the ballot. If that was not an act of providence, nothing is.” Gordon Peterson, host: “By the way, he was showing pictures of Somalia, Mogadishu and there’s a black mark in the sky and he said 'these are demons who controlled this thing.’” Totenberg: “Well, I hope he’s not long for this world because you can imagine-” Several voices reacted in unison, drowning her out, including Peterson: “You putting a hit out on this guy or what?” King: “Are you Reverend Pat Robertson?” Totenberg: “No, no, no, no, no, no!” Peterson: “What is this, the Sopranos?” Totenberg: “In his job, in his job, in his job, please, please, in his job.”

This wasn’t the first time Totenberg’s mind jumped immediately to offing someone whom she found offensive. Back on the July 8, 1995 Inside Washington, Totenberg had this reaction to Senator Jesse Helms’ complaint that AIDS research was getting a disproportionate share of federal research money. Inside Washington host Tina Gulland asked: "I don’t think I have any Jesse Helms defenders here. Nina?" Totenberg replied: "Not me, I think he ought to be worried about what’s going on in the Good Lord’s mind, because if there is retributive justice, he’ll get AIDS from a transfusion, or one of his grandchildren will get it."

Amazing how many ugly women flock to the Democrat Party. Considering that Dim men have no gonads, and that Dim women do have gonads, they should be called the Hermaphrodite Party.

Is this the same woman on NPR who, right after the towers fell, said that, "Everything will be back to normal by Monday." in a tone that clearly meant that she felt as if it wasn't a big deal?
Nasal obnoxious voice?
If it is, she's a complete A** and should not be on the air anywhere.

The haughtiness of that woman is vile.

Yeah, liberal elitists are like that.

It's funny when you realize what foolish, usefull idiots of the left people like Nina are.

"Totenberg" Can be rendered from the German in English as: "Mountain of the Dead." Nina is spiritually, if not brain...dead. What she wishes on the Right - has already befalled her. Schade.

If Nina Totenberg ("Mountain of the Dead" in Yiddish...hmmm) wants to hate somebody, she can start with the surgeon that did "her" sex-change operation... looks like he missed a few masculine characteristics he was supposed to trim off.

In other words, yecch.

Heh. Great minds run on similar wavelengths. The German is the same as the Yiddish (not unusual, the languages are mutually intelligible).

If I'm not mistaken, Nina Totenberg is also the one who said women everywhere should show their thanks to Bill Clinton for keeping abortion legal by giving him a blow job. She didn't use those exact words, but she referenced women getting on their knees in the context of what Monica had done for Bill. Personally, I would hope respectable women would have a higher standard for felating a man than his willingness to protect their right to kill their unborn child.

Unfortunately, you are mistaken.

It was Nina Burleigh of Time magazine

In July [1998] she told The Washington Post’s Howard Kurtz: "I would be happy to give him [Clinton] a blowjob just to thank him for keeping abortion legal."

I hate it when something comes up about NPR, because I am then reminded that MY and YOUR tax money goes to that seething leftist atheist hateful pro-homosexual pro-communism treasonous organization. It doesn't even slightly PRETEND to be unbiased or to present both sides. It is the most slimingly sickening butt-kissingly leftist secular humanist anti-Republican anti-conservative wrong on EVERY issue piece of crap.

Unfortunately, I occasionally listen (a couple of times a month for five minutes) becuase in my remote valley I can get pracically no other radio. The other day they called heroin addiction an "illness". They salivate when they talk about "gender and sexuality" issues. Their fangs drip with poison when they talk about Bush. They are fiends. They are like Saruman, after he lost power.

Yep. She's a Wiccan High Priestess or whatever. She passes no opportunity to bash Christians, for whom she has a seething and maniacal hate.

But, of course, she isn't biased or anything.

I agree totally with your post, but I have heard some exceptions. I rarely listen to NPR anymore, but I used to listen all the time.

After the 1992 conventions, some Dem political operative said in an NPR interview that he had been "embarrassed" by the media bias in favor of the Dems during the convention. This guy admitted, on NPR, that the media fawned over the Dems but was highly critical of the Republicans during their convention.

I also first heard of partial birth abortion on NPR. The reporterette actually called it "partial birth abortion," and described the procedure in grisly detail. I haven't heard a more frank and disturbing account of this monsterous procedure anywhere, not even by Pro-Life organizations. She sounded as repulsed by it as anyone could be.

Also, during the 1992 Dem primary, NPR played the tape of The StainMaker talking about Cuomo over the phone. IIRC, he said some very racist things on the tape and ran down Cuomo pretty bad. I never heard any other media outlet play the tape. Maybe they did, but NPR was the first.

But, I do agree that 98% of the reporting on NPR (I call "All Things Considered" "Our Views Considered, All Others Ridiculed") is so slanted as to be unlistenable. And the fact that my tax dollars are paying for it annoys me to no end.

I've got some problems with Krauthammer, even in this exchange. Instead of making a Yenta joke he should repeat what needs to be repeated over and over again, everytime the commie left brings up the big lie that the election was "stolen": every recount, every single one, since the election, shows Bush won Florida. Again: Every recount, every single one, shows Bush won Florida. Just one more time, just in case some people have trouble digesting this thought: Every recount since the election, whether performed by liberals or conservatives, whether statewide or in select counties, shows Bush won Florida.

On another issue, Krauthammer said that the Israeli strike against Syria showed "desperation, they don't know what to do". How could Krauthammer, the "thoughtful conservative" miss the brilliant global strategy of rattling Syrias cage? How? Because Kruathammer, though conservative on some issues, is not very thoughtful.
