TALLAHASSEE, FL -- According to a news release sent by the Terry Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, Florida Speaker Johnnie Byrd will introduce "Terri's Bill" during the special session Monday.

The bill would put an immediate moratorium on all dehydration and starvation deaths in Florida. Meanwhile, supporters of Terri Schiavo showed up Sunday outside a Pinellas Park hospice.

Doctors say Schiavo has been in a vegetative state since complications from a heart attack in 1990. Her husband was granted a court order that her feeding tube be removed, saying his wife wouldn't have wanted to be kept alive.

Weasel words from Mikey boy. What Bush said in his amicus to the court was dead on: that while she might have said she would not want to live with a tube in her stomach (and we only have Michael's word on this) that didn't mean she would not want to live being spoon fed and rehabbed.

They're immediately arguing whether it is constitutional.

Be careful that malice can block your prayers!!! The only thing we should wish on Michael is that he should be led to repentance. One phone call and he could put an end to the travesty his own self. Perhaps he still has enough shame left to do that when he sees that the august Florida legislature is being moved to act.

Is anyone on the floor there to speak to the issue, other than the reps themselves?

In the first quote Schifo says "Terri told me." In the second quote he says that he "believes" and "would have wanted." IOW, in the second quote he's not sure, he only "believes" that Terri "would have wanted."

Bingo!

"appeal was made by a "disability rights" group and actually carried more weight than appeals by parents"

That is really a sorry state of affairs, but at this point I really don't care what or who helps Terri as long as somebody does! I certainly wouldn't want to have the conscience of those who have thus far refused.

Mikey perhaps sees, against his will but still sees, that spoon feeding would not be against what he has claimed to be her express wishes. So he feels compelled to extrapolate those wishes. He is behaving like vermin.

I bet there is a lot of mental anguish going on now that legislators are back in session to try to stop what he's trying to do.

If this thing is for real and it passes, I'll eat most of the bad things I've posted this afternoon. Not all because jeb could have stepped in last week and the bill should have been #1 on the docket this morning with a life at stake. I still want to know why it wasn't introduced sometime today but tonight everyone is called back in. Me thinks they got swamped with emails and saw their poll numbers dropping.

The rats are claiming this is butting in where they don't belong. "Why are we here in the middle of the night, with no information blah, blah". Earlier guy said it violates the separation of powers, where will this lead us, etc.

Don't know who the woman is. Rep. Stargil brought it forward and is the one defending it.

Is Jeb Bush there defending it?

They're immediately arguing whether it is constitutional.

Just curious - what happened in re the requirement that the introduction of a "new" topic had to be approved by 2/3 of the membership? That would seem to be the logically first thing to debate. Or did Jeb himself add the topic to the call, mooting the question?
