TALLAHASSEE, FL -- According to a news release sent by the Terry Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, Florida Speaker Johnnie Byrd will introduce "Terri's Bill" during the special session Monday.
The bill would put an immediate moratorium on all dehydration and starvation deaths in Florida. Meanwhile, supporters of Terri Schiavo showed up Sunday outside a Pinellas Park hospice.
Doctors say Schiavo has been in a vegetative state since complications from a heart attack in 1990. Her husband was granted a court order that her feeding tube be removed, saying his wife wouldn't have wanted to be kept alive.

The first I called, Fredrica Wilson, is "unable to attend." To that, I said, "Oh, I'm so sorry," to which the lady said, "So are we." Which led me to believe that the thing was on go. Next, Villalobo's mail box was full & I preferred not to sit and push more buttons. Senators Mandy Dawson and Rod Smith's offices told me that the vote was on economics today.
Cruel, cruel.

Last night, I wondered at this First Coast News - never heard of it. Now, this morning, Cynthia Capers -- yeah, yeah, I think it's a caper, alright.

Hey CP. Terminal dehydration is a cruel cruel thing to do to anyone, much less a disabled woman.
He could have moved on with his life by divorcing her.

That's so odd. There is a writeup over at world net daily and in it Byrd was supposed to have spoken with local media as well. I couldn't listen to them (Fl Legislator) on the net any longer - they are just bs-ing and yukking it up on other matters. I was so disgusted I almost threw up!
To: Chancellor Palpatine
Since when is cruelty to the disabled an Orthodox trait?
I spoke with a number of priests at Florida Orthodox churches this morning and every single one of them is against death by dehydration for Terri. We're pro-life, remember?

Re, your post #89. *:05am came and went. Next time you assert something regarding time and the governor of Florida, verify before you post. I don't appreciate being manipulated for jeb bush's political ass-covering.

Adjourned? Please don't tell me they are done and didn't bring it up?????!!!!
To: PeyersPatches
That is what appears to have happened unless they went to lunch or something? They just said, "That's it, we're adjourned" and all filed out.

Oh my Lord.

Of course cruelty to the disabled isn't an Orthodox trait - but what I took from that tape is an existence that I wouldn't want to put my family through were I in that state. Is it theologically correct? I can't say one way or another. I can say that of the living wills I've prepared in the parish, not one has balked at the notion that food and hydration be withdrawn.
To: MHGinTN
My post was a re-posting of someone who was at the vigil, to provide people with updated information at the time. If you insist on being rude about the information please take it up with her.
To: Chancellor Palpatine
But in this case she doesn't have a living will, does she? Isn't the government going only on what the husband claims his wife would want?
To: Chancellor Palpatine
That's too bad. Starvation I can go for but having seen a dehydration deaths personally I can tell you that without strong sedation, it is extremely cruel and horrid.
My pity for those who were led to believe otherwise.

(A good site to visit is http://www.terrisfight.org . Oct. 15th 2pm death order must be stopped)
To: mewzilla
Sure. But the problem is that I've not met a person yet who has ever said that they would want to be kept in that state - in my experience, 100% of anybody who has ever spoken to me on this stuff has said that they don't want to be kept up like that.
