TALLAHASSEE, FL -- According to a news release sent by the Terry Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, Florida Speaker Johnnie Byrd will introduce "Terri's Bill" during the special session Monday.
The bill would put an immediate moratorium on all dehydration and starvation deaths in Florida. Meanwhile, supporters of Terri Schiavo showed up Sunday outside a Pinellas Park hospice.
Doctors say Schiavo has been in a vegetative state since complications from a heart attack in 1990. Her husband was granted a court order that her feeding tube be removed, saying his wife wouldn't have wanted to be kept alive.

Whoa! I just visited my inbox...
There's about a hundred responses from the legislators. About half have subject lines with "thank you..." in them. About twenty start with "not read" and say my email was deleted without being read.
Is there a standardized spelling for the Bronx cheer?

See post #2157.
My letter to Governor Bush:
Dear Governor Jeb Bush,
How can any of us who have been watching over and praying for Terri Schiavo thank you enough for what you have done to save her life? You took up the mantle of the Redeemer and saved her life from destruction by those whose motives are certainly questionable.
I understand that for the sake of expediency Terri's Bill had to be framed in such a way that it applied specifically to Terri and specifically to this time. This was wisdom. I hope for you to build upon that wisdom now that the crisis is over, so that laws are put in place to protect others in similar circumstances.
As Washington has recently passed legislation outlawing the horrid partial birth abortion practice, you, too, are participating in a brand new way in bringing about a new Culture of Life in America!
Please follow up Terri's Law with your particular influence and authority to protect the lives of many more who will be ensnared by the current Culture of Death. Many folks from my own state of Vermont have their winter homes in Florida and retire there in the autumn years of their lives. Not one of them should have to face what Terri has had to go through because of the lack of compassion of a family member in control of their medical decisions when they are unable to communicate their wishes for themselves.
No one should ever be denied food and water. The delivery system for that basic sustenance being a feeding tube should no more be considered "life support" than a spoon is.
I praise you for your excellent leadership! You have exercised great wisdom. I beseech you to keep up the good work now that it has been begun.
Most humbly and gratefully,

Can't thank or praise you enough for that wonderful post with all the email addies and sorting you did with links. You've made it very easy for us to thank, praise, and encourage those who did the right thing. Thank you!

Thanks, Sam! I got a very nice email back from Speaker Johnnie Byrd. He was very concerned about the manipulation of legislation being used to try to kill a handicapped woman and says, "The bill passed by the House in Special Session E on Monday night would allow the Governor to issue a moratorium to stop contested legal dehydration and starving deaths in Florida in certain instances. The moratorium would give the Legislature time to assess our current law. With our pledge to protect the most vulnerable, I strongly believe that someone needs to be a voice for the voiceless like Terri Schiavo."
God bless him.

"Meanshile, if I left any false impression, perhaps I can state here that while my convictions have not changed on the sanctity of life,
the only solution to the culture of death we live in is the gospel. Not Free Republic. Not politicians. Not republicans. Not conservatives.
The only reason why Terri Schiavo is being rehydrated tonight is because of the operation of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of so many in authority in Florida. The only thing that will ultimately save the lives of babies is the influence of God on the minds of young women."
I think many of us here recognize that, DMWT; I would be the first to agree. I KNOW in my heart we witnessed a pouring out of the Holy Spirit. However, God DOES work out His plan through men, both good men and bad men. Note how he 'hardened the heart of Pharaoh', so that His glory might be revealed. We witnessed the same thing with Terri, when NONE of the kings of the earth, including the POPE, would stand up for her life, God's people turned to Him for help, and He delivered. I don't believe for one minute any of this would have happened without the interaction between broken children of God and God Himself. But God DOES work through men to accomplish his purposes, and what Satan intends for evil, God will turn to His glory. Consequently, the politicians and Free Republic are all a part of his plan. Our job as Christians is to spread the gospel until they ALL see it God's way. I suspect that God has put in power some who feel the same way we do, but we were not reaching each other. Now we have a better idea of who is who, and can work accordingly.

Heard Johnny Byrd speak on H & C. This legislator could be groomed for higher office IMHO.
