Yes, it's unfortunate that McCarthy was not as telegenic and as good as a lair as, for example, Clinton.
However, that does not make him wrong. And you, apparently have not read Ann's book, since you fail to address a single point she raised in the book. In fact you actually use an example, the Walsh quote, which Ann points was hypocritical, in her book.
I suggest you pick up the book and read it, you might learn something.

Hahahaa, spoken like a true liberal fat chick. Liberal fat chicks rarely fly F-14s. Lighten up.

JFK was an admirer. Was he admiring while he was botching up the bay of pigs or while he was high on pain killers or while he was bringing us to the edge of nuclear war or while was cheating on his wife? Of what value does JFK admiration bring to this discussion?

"when he was attacking an associate of Joseph N. Welch, chief attorney for the Army, Welch stood up, faced the senator, and said:
Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness. Let us not assassinate this lad further, Senator. You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you no sense of decency?"
That associate was a member of the Lawyers Guild, long known to be the legal arm of the Communist Party in America. McCarthy's mistake was stooping to the level of Welch right after Welch had just smeared Roy Cohn (McCarthy's researcher) for the hundreth time during those hearings. This incident has been replayed and written of out of context for so long most people believe Welch was some sort of patriot, when in fact he was grandstanding for the media. The only people lacking a sense of decency that year were Emmy Award nominators for overlooking Welch's performance (if they had Emmys then).
Ed Murrow was in on the hatchet job as well and was not the saintly knight-protector of fairness today's media portrays him as.
Please read Ms. Coulter's book and look up references for yourself.

I think Ann has set herself up for a fall....she has thrown so many rocks and is so full of pride...it's gonna be ugly...it happens to the best of them....character matters. She may be brilliant, beautiful and quick on her feet...but she will have a long way to fall...it will be like a train wreck...mark my word.

"McCarthy was a drunken clown who was an embarrassment to this country. Why Ann can't figure this out is puzzling.
Source of the excerpt: http://mccarthy.cjb.net/"
You didn't have to work to hard to come up with the few paragraphs that you linked us to. It bills itself as the "Home of the net's most popular report on Joe McCarthy."
It doesn't claim to be the most accurate. By the way, did you check out that site thoroughly. The guy is VERY "out there...
Do what several other people have suggested and read Ann's book. I did, and it amazed me how many "facts" have been twisted by the media that hated McCarthy.

Coulter has been faulted for research that is routinely sloppy and facts that are contrived. Ummm....I read "High Crimes and Misdemeanors" as well as "Slander" and found that Ann is exremely careful to document her references in footnotes. She backsup all the facts..then draws her conclusions.

[ In Coulter's America, everything, it seems, is simple. She reigns over a bipolar realm of either right or wrong; love or hate; smart or idiotic; men or a Coulter favorite girly boys, a distinction that in her book yields such questions as the language-garbling Why are liberals so loath of positive testosterone? as well as Why can't liberals let men defend the country? (By men, she means Republicans.) ]<<- Frazier Moore...
It IS pretty simple really... Ann is just a girly girl... and how..

If I had been waging a one-man war against the most brutal killer of the 20th Century, Josef Stalin, with hundreds of people that were supposedly on my "side" in the State Dept., Hollywood and the media actually working for him, I would have needed a drink pretty regularly myself.
Just ask yourself this - why has Hollywood never once produced a movie about the evils of Josef Stalin or Chairman Mao? This isn't a recent phenomenon. Hollywood has stridently refused to criticize "Uncle Joe" or Mao for 6 decades.
*** By the way, something Ann left out that REALLY deserved attention was that Jack Warner (as in, Warner Bros.) actually requested that McCarthy investigate his own employees. Jack basically told McCarthy, they're bloody everywhere, I can't figure out who -isn't- communist anymore, please help. Something that is always left out of the histories.

I took your advice and found the following:
Unless we fight for proper treatment of history and counter the nonsense images of McCarthy, no history can be safe from the liberal noise machine. Someday, school children will be taught that all of America cringed with terror at Ken Starr, whose evil designs on the nation were frustrated only through the sacrifice of brave liberals. People will have vivid images of the pounding boots of Starr's subpoena-servers and the Gestapo-like wails of alarms as Ken Starr arrived to kick in the doors of innocent Americans and storm through their bedrooms. It will be the Reign of Terror under Ken Starr.
Bill Clinton will be revered in high school history books as the George Washington of his day who, along with patriots Larry Flynt and James Carville, "saved the Constitution." He will be honored with a memorial larger than the Washington Monument (though probably with the same general design).
Anyone who thinks this is anywhere near reality has mush for brains.
There is an interesting parallel here however: Both these individuals were "censured" by a legislative body. McCarty was condemned by the Senate and Clinton was impeached by the House.
Try reading the reference cited earlier: http://mccarthy.cjb.net

The fact that Hollywood or any other part of the entertainment industry has been detrimmental to our culture does not justify any means that a particular senator decides to use to deal with that problem. The ends do not justify the means is a basic moral concept which seemed to have escaped senator McCarthy. Therefore he does not qualify as a leader worth following - why Ann cannot figure this out is troubling.

EXACTLY!, Perhaps Semper would like to show us what a great font of virtue Mr Welch was when he was trying to smear Roy Cohn as homosexual?

I read her book, and I'd like to know why she doesn't even mention the Boland amendment. You know, the amendment that said,"Nothing in DOD FY 1985 Authorization Act shall be deemed to authorize support for the contras in Nicaragua." Then she goes on to not mention how all the Democrats sucked up to the Ortegas when they came to Washington.
