The Washington, D.C., watchdog group Judicial Watch filed an abuse complaint it says will allow Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to intervene on behalf of Terri Schindler-Schiavo, the brain-disabled woman who is starving under a court order initiated by her husband.

Judicial Watch President Thomas Fitton faxed a "Form to Report Abuse/Abandonment/Neglect/Exploitation" with the Florida Department of Children and Families yesterday then sent a letter to Bush and DCF Secretary Jerry Regier.

The letter said, "Based on our formal complaint via the faxed report referenced above, you have the authority and sufficient cause to immediately order the Florida Department of Children and Family Services to intervene on behalf of Ms. Schiavo; to restore her nutrition; and to initiate a full investigation of the circumstances surrounding Ms. Schiavo’s disability."

Fitton said these actions are in accord with the U.S. Constitution, the Florida Constitution, Article 2, Section 5, and Florida statutes 825.102 and 782.04(2)(i), 77.04.

The abuse report, under "Description of Incident," says:

Thirteen years ago Terri Schiavo suffered brain damage from a sudden collapse. She receives her food and water by means of a feeding tube. Terri's other bodily functions are stable. She responds to voices, and is capable of smiling, laughing and crying. She vocalizes well.

Terri's husband, Michael Schiavo, has denied her any rehabilitation treatment since 1993. On Wednesday, October 1, 2003, Michael Schiavo directed that Terri's feeding tube be disconnected, subjecting her to starvation and dehydration that will result in an anguishing death in approximately 10 to 14 days.

Judicial Watch is known for its many lawsuits against President Clinton's administration. But the group, led by Larry Klayman, also has taken on the current White House, including a lawsuit to force the release of information about Vice President Dick Cheney's energy task force.

Klayman recently declared he will run for a U.S. Senate seat from Florida.

Legal documents and information on Terri's case are posted on the family's website.

Thanks for the support! Those of us who have gone through this with our loved ones understand the pain of uncertainty that cloaks these decisions and would never call you a shill for death. You just have to go on your faith, and my faith is that death happens to the righteous as well as the unrighteous, the innocent as well as the guilty, and that death for the believer is just the beginning of a glorious eternity. Because of Christ, we have nothing to fear in death.

I informed all the adults at our Friday night youth group meeting about Terri's fight. We lifted her and her family up in prayer together last night. I'm also telling everyone at work. (I work in a State Hospital.) Everyone I tell can't believe it...and some say "Yeah I heard about that but isn't she a veg.?" I quickly set them straight.

I"m praying and fasting also. Yes, I believe she is wrongly imprisoned in this life by Michael, but that doesn't give any judge the right to end her life. He should instead give her to her parents, to give her the best quality of life she can have til the Lord takes her home.

How soon is "immediately"? When does Terri get food her food back?

There ARE things worse than death you idiots and may all you Pollyanna Rat do-gooders find this out the hard way.

...and you know this because you've been DEAD for how long now?

I'll admit, I've made some numbnutted statements before, but this is just got to be one of the tops!

Believing that our lives are always enhanced when others die is one of those things "worse than death".

>>But I also believe that we sometimes cling to people for our own comfort rather than allowing them to be at rest.

Terri actually tried to get out of her chair when the secret therapist the parents hired talked to her on the phone and said to her (paraphrase): "You'd better try to get out of your chair or they will end your life." The father was with her in the room at the time when she almost got out of the chair all by herself, and grabbed the phone from his daughter, and said to the therapist "What did you say to her?!"

Terri did NOT want to "be at rest" before her time.

Yes, indeed, millions of people have ordered the deaths of a collective 43 million unborn children. The nation seems hopeless -- there is mercy only for the guilty in America now. And death for the innocent! NO wonder these pitiful "Third World" countries like to lecture us about our "human rights" violations, for they are legion.

I agree. This is part of my reasoning for an alternate violation of Terri's rights, although it will need some proof. Were the tables turned, and it were Michael Schiavo lying in that bed, would the courts have been so adamant in desire to see the wife keep control of him, in spite of her abandoning him for another man? Excepting, of course, wanting 'guardianship' to make sure he died? There may be some gender bias here too. But like I said, will need some proving.

The main tenet of her denial of rights is proven by the mere fact that she is being starved right now, on the basis that she's physically disabled.

Else perhaps a bunch of piss-ant do-gooders may consign me to the horror of years of suffering a living death in a hospital bed somewhere.

This is not about the right-to-die, although it's being perverted that way. This is about the right to kill another, based on their mental state. Based on the poster's ignorance, he/she might want to make a physical note to remember to not move to Florida.

>>NO wonder these pitiful "Third World" countries like to lecture us about our "human rights" violations, for they are legion.

But you do realize abortion and euthanasia for the disabled would not be considered human rights violations by the left.

*Their* human rights violations have to do with not giving special protections for homosexuals and lesbians, not forcing every child into state sponsored communist public schools which re-write history, not shutting down companies which do not put globalization and radical environmental principles first, etc. etc.

The media and ignorance have done their evil duty. Even Fox News reports are contrary to the facts, when they deem it important enough to report. I hear very little about Terri, but am constantly barraged with Kobe Bryant.

It's an uphill battle. Most I've talked to are just as ignorant on the matter. Heck, how many here on FR have we had to try and educate?

I'm sick of the misinformed and selfish responses, "I wouldn't want to live like that." and "Well, she's in a coma" to "She's on life support".

The right to die isn't enough. The desire to put to death anyone who doesn't live up to the socialist standards is coming to fruition with the killing of Terri. This makes a person's mental abilities a reason for the removal of their rights.

Of course, you're right. I got it wrong here. America's true "human rights" abuses are not the reason that she is condemned in much of the world today. Talk about mixed-up priorities.

Just hold your nose. Many people are stepping forward to help Terri. We must remember that freepers have more knowledge in a lot of cases than the average man on the street. Name recognition to freepers isn't the same as name recognition to the sheeple.

Terri will die a painful death. I believe the morphine was halted if it ever began in the first place.

I'm not sure if Klayman was involved with this one, but just for the record, Judicial Watch has won a case, at least one.

Is he still staying away from his house?

We can hope he is stopping by once in a while so he can check his mail, pick up Terri's "Get Well" cards, and bring them to her.

As her guardian, it is his responsibility to handle her mail.

I understand where those who have lost loved ones are coming from. I posted this on another thread regarding this issue.

My husband and I were given the option to abort our daughter because she was in the last stages of heart failure in utero. We declined. We were again approached shortly after her birth (she was on a high frequency ventilator at the time, in kidney failure) we declined. 3 Days later she was on a normal ventilator and producing her own urine. Her heart was still failing, but she was critically stable. We were given the option again to either terminate her life, or have her listed for transplant. We opted for transplant. Emma waited for 4 months on life support, fed by a machine, for her new heart. SHe is now fed by pump 21.5 hours a day, without which she would die.

IRONICALLY, if i were to stop feeding her, I would go to prison, and I would be deemed the most horrible mother because I abused my handicapped child. In this case, he is being portrayed (tho poorly) as the poster husband for mercy killing.

I think the difference in this case is that my husband and I could not give up until we tried everything. I could not bury my daughter knowing that I hadnt given her every opportunity to live. Michael decided to kill Terri long before he signed those DRP.

Terri may never recover from her current state, we will never know, because she was never given the opportunity. My daughter was given a death sentence before she was ever given the opportunity to live by doctors who swore she would never be more than a shell of child, and would die before her first birthday, she is now a normal 2 year old, who just cant eat by mouth, nothing else sustains her life, but her feeding tube. (kinda like Terri)

This is no longer only Terris Fight... The fight for Terri has become every parent of a disabled childs platform to protect the future right of life for their children.

I will help in anyway that I can.
