President Bush and First Lady, Laura left California yesterday, and arrived at Tokyos Haneda airport (at around 3:00 am, Pacific time), where they were greeted by U.S. Ambassador Howard Baker. The President met with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi for talks on subjects such as international trade and the reconstruction of Iraq. The President and First Lady were dinner guests at the Akasaka State Guest House, where they dined on Japanese steak and Yakatori chicken, sitting on the floor, but were allowed to dangle their legs through a hole in the floor!
Japan is only the first stop in a whirlwind 9 day tour of 6 Asian countries and Australia, and including the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Bangkok, Thailand on Sunday. There are LOTS of pictures, many of which could have been selected as the best, (and which I have tried to assemble in some sort of orderly fashion), so enjoy your Daily Dose of Dubya!!

Arriving in Thailand
President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy take a midday break in the water at Kahala Beach, Honolulu, Hawaii, in this April 23, 1984, file photo. While past presidents typically took some time away from work during visits to Hawaii, President Bush's scheduled stop in the islands this week doesn't leave much time for rest and relaxation.

I think this is a very pretty dress the First Lady has chosen.
I agree. I believe she looks better in the V-neckline. (But, I was partial to the darker blue/deep purple dress with lace overlay that she wore the other night. I like her in the darker color.)
It is amazing that our first couple can keep up their schedule and look as good as they do!

It certainly is a flattering, striking design (the pale yellow gown) and very attractive on her. Nothing to complain about from my POV. Just lovely. Simplicity can be gorgeous if done properly.

Thanks, Gretchen.......I was thinking about doing that myself.
The word 'PHOTOS' helps people find the Dose, and I inadvertantly left it out Friday.

I haven't confirmed this, but knowing there are those on this thread who are the active prayer warriors, I wanted to mention that SevenofNine posted in the Canteen that Tony Blair was in the hospital for what was thought to be a heart attack, but was an irregular heartbeat. SevenofNine said he's back home on Downing Street now.
As I said, I haven't confirmed the report -- and am about to step away from the computer for several hours, so I don't have time to do so now. I figured: Regardless, our ally Tony Blair deserves our prayers as well!

In that picture of the Kinaree, half human-half bird, the President looks like he's saying, "Now, what in the world is this? You ever see anything like this Laura?!" I do believe you picked up the audio on his open mic hehe.

Blair is hospitalised with [and released after] heart problem
By Jean Eaglesham Political correspondent
October 19 2003
http://news.ft.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=FT.com/StoryFT/FullStory&c=StoryFT&cid=1066565193051&p=1012571727088 Tony Blair was on Sunday admitted to hospital suffering from an irregular heart beat. The prime minister returned home to Downing Street after a series of tests during a five-hour stay.
The 50-year-old prime minister was taken as an "acute admission" to London's Hammersmith Hospital on Sunday lunchtime after feeling "a little under the weather".
Mr Blair was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat. He underwent a series of checks and a procedure known as a cardio conversion was carried out to restore a regular heartbeat. The prime minister was reported by Downing Street to be "feeling fine" by the time of his release.
Number 10 on Sunday night said there was "no reason" why the heart condition should recur and that Mr Blair would resume full-time duties on Tuesday after taking a 24-hour rest.
The health scare follows a period when the prime minister has been under intense pressure, with the controversial decision to go to war on Iraq closely scrutinised by the Hutton Inquiry. Mr Blair, a father of four, has travelled extensively overseas in recent months to try to win backing for the war on terror and the Middle East peace process.
Any suggestion of recurring heart problems would raise questions about Mr Blair's ability to cope with the punishing prime ministerial schedule. The scare is the first suggestion of a health problem for the prime minister, who is known to take regular exercise.
On Sunday night Iain Duncan Smith, the Tory leader, said he was very sorry to hear Mr Blair had been taken into hospital. "I very much hope that he makes a swift recovery," Mr Duncan Smith added.

Thanks for your kind post, MS.BEHAVIN....
Actually, being on the Dose helps me 'escape' from the pain of Eric's absence, and the danger he's in every moment of every day.
It's good to be among friends here!
(And I'm so happy that you found Mr RIGHT 22 years ago, after your first marriage. Anyone who thinks you should have stayed with THAT guy needs lessons in compassion, justice, AND a refresher on the Scripture).

Thanks for all your work with the pix tongiht Gretchen.. I cant help but see the respectful but rather "disinterested" look on most of the Thai miliary in contrast with looks of "wild enthusiasm" that is on the faces of our GIs when around the CIC. Guess it is understandable.
Been a long day & the pix were a nice was to close. Need to try to catch up on some sleep. Maybe tonight?
