How be ya?

Been better, been worse, but still tryin' my durndest to remain optimistic.

(I'm working on some book edits, so only "letting myself" check different threads periodically.)

If I haven't mentioned it thus far, I'm glad to hear your health is better! ... And, good luck on your "personal chef" endeavors!

Also, you (and others) might want to check out this site with 3678 recipes indexed. Large "Cajun" section, but I didn't look around to see about other Southern recipes. It's been ages since I've really used that site, but used to check it occasionally.

Gee .. I was thinking that too .. once I got a real close-up picture of the dress. Very Oriental looking fabric and if it didn't have a bow - which made me wonder if it was a gift to her from the Thai people.

WOnderful--expensive--gift, if it was. Have a friend who sent his measurement for a suit, to HOng Kong. Came back perfect. WOnder if a dress could be done similarly.

OTOH maybe the trips to Paris was an excuse to "go shopping". The press mentioned she had bought some things before she left on that trip. SInce she was in the mood, maybe, she just continued. Love to see her dressed up although I know she comfortable in jeans.

The cream/yellow pant suit in 337 looks like it is also made of silk.

Wow! You have a better eye than I do - I could never identify the fabrick - but the pantsuit is very attractive on our First Lady. I love to see her in pastels.

Artist Eye. .....It may not be silk, but it has a certain sheen or luster that is sometmes seen in silk. Since she is traveling in the orient, silk would be appropriate. When in Rome do as the Romans etc.

Thanks so much Lady Fawnn..

doing lots of reserch on the legalities of being a "personal chef"

Seems you can cook in other folks' homes for profit, but not in your own...??? (dept of Health garbage)

Might be able to pay a Church or Lion's or Elks club to use their kitchen to cater larger affairs..

The cooking stuff I have down pat, it's the durned laws I have to deal with..

Sheesh

I saw a show on FoodTV where a lady rents a church kitchen to make specialty foods she sells to corp. accounts -- for gifts, etc. I think she made chocolates, but don't recall for sure now. ... I guess those health dept. laws explains why it might be easier to do that than to remodel her own kitchen.

I watched biographies on Julia Child and James Beard (on the Biography Channel) over the weekend. I'd love to teach cooking classes in my home like Beard did. In his case, he converted pretty much the entire first floor of his Greenwich Village apartment to kitchen space. (His upstairs bathroom was so small that he installed a shower on his fire escape "porch" because he didn't have room for a tub upstairs!)

Go to foodtv.com or foodnetwork.com and check out the "resource lists" for the "Food Finds" and "Best of" programs. They feature a lot of specialty food chefs, esp. the "Food Finds" program. (There's a book by that name, too.) Many of the "resources" have their own Web sites, so you can often learn about how they operate their business/es on the about page/s on the site/s.

Feeling better now that I just had a nice chat with my daughter on the phone. My nephew visited for awhile tonight, too. He did the Whole Foods Market run for me in Detroit so I have lots of goodies here, too. We're going to fix a belated birthday dinner for his mom tomorrow night.

Good luck with your business!

"and as a Christian, you should be aware that adultery is a Biblically acceptable reason for leaving a marriage."

As a CATHOLIC Christian, I cannot accept that "adultery" is an acceptable reason for leaving a marriage. There are situations where a separation may be indicated--especially, if there is physical danger to the spouse or to the children. But not divorce.

"Sorry, but I disagree...marriages are "torn asunder" when either of the spouses refuses to forsake all others, IMHO. A woman who stays nominally hitched despite repeated dalliances by the husband needn't be honored, especially when its a situation like the HildaBeast's, wherein I believe she stays married out of an unhealthy LustFerPower!!"

I did try hard to separate my comments about women who stay in marriages with unfaithful husbands from the question of Hillary's marriage. Apparently I was not successful--I'll repeat again, I hold no brief for the Clintons.

But I CANNOT accept the idea that a marriage can be "torn asunder" by one of the spouses. One of the other posters said that I was not being "Biblical" when wrote my original post on this.

But saying that a spouse can "tear a marriage asunder" by his (or her) conduct is itself un-Biblical, because what you are saying is that MAN can tear a marriage asunder. Christ makes it very clear that MAN cannot do that.

As a Protestant Christian, I find it best not to get into doctrinal debates with my Catholic brothers and sisters, since what binds us together is greater than what separates us, but I will give you what is the basis for my belief that adultery is an acceptable reason for divorce in the words of Jesus.

Jesus replied, " Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery." Matthew 19: 9

While I believe divorce is never the best choice (and for my husband and I, the word is not in our vocabulary), there is clearly one exception. And it's not in church doctrine, logic, or personal opinion, but in the words of Jesus, Himself.
